As I mentioned above, I have been involved in sports and fitness my whole life. But that doesn't mean that I haven't had some difficult times. Coming out of college I was in great shape at that continued as I was teaching and coaching at the high school level. Everyday I was putting in at least 6 hours of activity and despite my poor diet was still in great shape. I competed in 5k and 10k races and in 1999 I ran my first marathon. When I hit 30 I still was in good shape but it was a lot harder to maintain. I think my poor diet was catching up with me. In 2004, I moved my family up to Alaska to start up a construction company. I had every intention to continue to run and exercise but all of my time was put into the start up of my new company. Slowly over the next few years my weight went up and by the summer of 2006 I had hit my highest weight of 240 pounds. This was 50 pounds over where I wanted to be and I had to do something about it.

I had just read a book called Ultramarathon Man: Confessions of an all night runner by Dean Karnazes and I had found some new motivation. After checking out his website I found that he was going to be starting a new challenge where he was going to run 50 marathons, in 50 states, in 50 consecutive days. And if you wanted to run with him, they were accepting a limited number of runners who could take part while he was running in your state. I signed up immediately! But I wasn't going to be running any marathons at 240 pounds, I had to lose weight and I only had 3 months to do it. I started running my butt off and on October 2, 2006 I ran with Dean on his Alaskan marathon. I had dropped down to 218, that’s 22 pounds in 3 months, not to bad if I only had P90X at that time. Anyway the whole story is that I did not finish that marathon with Dean, I made it 18 miles though. And that night I signed myself up for another marathon in 3 more months. During this time I had moved down to Arizona and was still running everyday and my diet was a lot better. I had cut fast food completely out and no more soda either. In January 2007 I ran the PF Chang’s Rock 'n Roll Marathon in Tempe, Arizona. I was down to about 200 pounds and this time I "Rocked" it!

In March of 2007 I stumbled upon the Million Dollar Body site while researching online personal training sites. I was looking to create my own site but Million Dollar Body had everything that I wanted in a site and they had a great way to make money by being a coach. Perfect! I signed up and jumped right into P90X, MDB most extreme workout and I loved it. It seriously kicked my butt and that's what I needed. I was using that along with my running schedule as well as doing swim and bike workouts. I had decided that now I was in good enough shape to try something that I had always wanted to get into and that was triathlons. In July of 2007 I finished my first round of P90X and had also finished 2 triathlons. I dropped another 10 pounds and my body fat went from 21% to 14%.

After a Spring where I participated in 6 triathlons I'm starting another round of P90X. I'm really trying to focus on eating better and using the nutritional guides that Million Dollar Body provides us. I know that with my triathlon training and another round of P90X I will be ready to bring it even more for the fall season. I'm also planning to work up to compete in the 2009 Arizona Ironman Triathlon.
