I love my family and it is important for me to see my children grow up and hopefully my future grandchildren as well. I believe my wife deserves the healthy sexy man she wants and deserves when we married almost 17 years ago. I feel my lifestyle for the past 20 years (OK, since high school since I smoked, etc.), has been bad and has endangered my longevity goals. Thus the need for a Transformation Story.......

One of the key descriptions of my job is Relationship Management. Sounds fun and it has been very rewarding. However, if you look behind the curtain, you will see a husband/father who spent the last 22 years on an airplane, flying almost every week. I missed first words, first steps, birthdays, holidays and numerous special occasions. I've traveled to some great destinations but usually only saw the airport, taxi, hotel and office building, before jetting off to the next location. I entertained, over-ate, over-drank, smoked, under-slept and definetely exercised far too little. So, I gained over 50 pounds over the past 17 years, maxing out at 249; higher but I refused to look at a bigger number on the scale until I lost some weight. My health was extremely precarious and the Doctor confirmed it. I failed a treadmill stress test and was forced to consult a Heart Specialist, who started me on a statin prescription and warned surgery was the next step if I could not control the plaque build up in my arteries. The excess weight also lead to Obstructive Sleep Apnea, which required a tonsilectomy, removal of my adnoids and uvula. Ouch! Talk about a way to lose weight fast; try that at age 48.
My family history is very concerning, starting with both my grandfathers passing from heart attacks, the first at age 50 and the other in his 60's. Both my parents had heart attacks, thankfully surviving due to modern medicine, angioplasty, stents and God's grace. The final health warning came when I received an emergency call on a trip last year, requesting I return home because my younger sister (47 at the time), was flown flight for life to the hospital and I was the best possible donor. She had many complications, one of which was a heart attack. They discovered three arteries in her heart clogged (one 100% and another 95%), requiring angioplasty and stents. Can you say wake-up call?
Pam and I had tried every diet in the book; you know, the ones from the West, East, North, South, Hollywood, Ski Team, Mayo, No Carb, Low Carb, One Free Day and we even tried one that gave you a free hour everyday. You should of seen the feeding frenzy during that hour! They all worked for a week or two but I could not see myself maintaining any of those for life.
I belonged to Health Clubs for the past 25 years and also worked out in some of the hotel gyms, some good and some bad. I gave up cigerettes and I hired personal trainers and tried to do the right thing. With my travel schedule and an undisciplined approach, I was only able to lose some of the weight and plateaued around 235 to 240 lb's.
So in November 2007, I am stretching and watching some golf on TV, wondering how to improve my health, when up pops the P90X infomercial. We've all seen "result oriented" weight loss/exercise program claims before but what caught my attention with P90X was the President and CEO of Beachbody were showing incredible results in just 90 days! I also listened closely to the discussion on muscle confusion and considering I was in the middle of a plateau, this seemed very logical to me. After the infomercial, I jumped on the internet and investigated more about P90X and after consulting with my wife, we decided to purchase the program.
I am writing this transformation story 90 days later and promise you, my life has changed forever! I am set to begin Round 2 of P90X and expect to be in the best shape of my life before my 51st birthday!
