When I received the program, I immediately read the manuals from cover to cover. At first, I didn’t think I would truly be able to keep up the workouts everyday and thought that I might take 180 days to complete the first round. However, Beachbody’s slogan really struck a chord with me “Decide, Commit, Succeed.” After the 1st week of doing the workouts, I decided to make the commitment to follow the program for the rest of the 90 days without exceptions. One night during the first week of Phase 2, there was a power failure in my house and I couldn’t use any DVD player to do the Chest, Shoulders, and Triceps workout. Since it was already dark in the house, I decided to do the workout from the manual by flashlight. Then, I took the DVD and my mat back to my office and cleared some space in front of a computer to do the Ab Ripper!

Although I have been working on fitness for years, I have never really showed signs of being fit. My goals for this program were to show some ab definition and see if I could uncover some portion of a 6 pack, get a vein to bulge out of my biceps, and to lose the love handles. I also wanted to live in the 150’s – get my weight back down to the lowest its ever been and keep it down, well within the normal range for my height. I also wanted to raise my overall fitness. My results were for the 90 days were pretty amazing. I dropped over 10 pounds to my lowest weight ever at my adult height: 152.9. My biceps got bigger showing that I actually put on muscle mass during this process. My Body fat dropped 2.4% with the calipers, but almost 4 percent on the athlete mode of my Tanita bathroom scale (from 13.5% to 9.7%). I lost almost 4 inches in my waist (down to 29”). My pull-ups went from 7 ½ to 15. My vertical leap increased 2 inches. My push-ups went from 47 to 61 (not bad for a middle-aged, balding guy). My toe touch flexibility increased by 6 inches. My wall squat went from 90 seconds to 4 minutes. My curls at 25 lbs. went from 20 reps to 37 reps. The In & Outs went from 48 to 210!!! When I look in the mirror now, I can see a reasonably defined 4 pack. If I catch the light just right, I can see a vein popping out of my right bicep, and the love handles have disappeared to the point where I have had to buy all new pants and shorts. This program improved all areas of fitness for me including strength, flexibility, coordination, cardiovascular endurance, and balance. For those thinking about P90X, I can offer this: if you Bring It, P90X will deliver!
