Recently, some friends uncovered some candid pictures I wasn't aware existed and I was appalled at the state I was in just a few short years ago. In retrospect, a daily diet consisting of a pack of cigarettes combined with fast food and washed down with 3-6 mochas was not the healthiest of options. Breakfast consisted of a cigarette or two and 2-3 cups of coffee. Lunch was rarely consumed, and when I did eat, it was usually one huge meal at the end of the day. I really couldn't have been making worse choices for myself, but I didn't really understand how it affected my appearance until I saw those pictures.
They opened my eyes and are the reason I've decided to finally decided to get out of my computer chair and start working out again.
Last spring, I actually started working toward my goal of looking like I wanted to. I began eating healthier and more often, and came up with my own workout regimen consisting of some light resistance band work combined with free online workouts. After 3 months of 5-day per week work, I had lost quite a bit of weight in my mid-section and was feeling pretty good about myself. My energy levels were up, my mood improved and I felt more confident. Clothes I felt apprehension about wearing before became my new "go-to" clothes. Jeans I couldn't fit into only a few months earlier now seemed like they were made for me. The only thing I lacked was the extra muscle and definition to complete the package. That's where P90x is hopefully going to help. I'm hoping I'll finally get to have a real "after" picture to be proud of.
