Being as tall as I am, I’ve been blessed NOT to have had to worry about my weight until my mid-thirties. Instead, I received plenty of unwanted attention simply for being the tallest girl around and there is no diet for that!
In October 2007, I was back down to my “before I ever had children” weight. Other than walking ONE mile around my neighborhood, a few times per week, I hadn't put much effort into it. At 179 pounds, I felt SLIM and enjoyed several compliments from friends and family. In December 2007, I had a bilateral bunionectomy and couldn’t exercise for SIX weeks! I should have started exercising as soon as I was cleared to do so by the doctor, but I put it off. Toward the end of spring, I gradually noticed that my clothes were fitting more snugly. At that time, I was consumed by my teaching responsibilities so I didn't take any action. The real TURNING POINT for me was when one of my students brought in FIELD DAY pictures. I was shocked to see how WIDE my bottom half looked in those pictures! Yikes! I decided it was TIME to make a CHANGE!
I had seen the infomercials for the 10-Minute Trainer a few times before I actually picked up the phone to order the program. With my busy schedule, the 10-Minute Trainer really appealed to me. I knew that there would be NO EXCUSE for not being able to fit TEN little minutes into my routine! When the DVDs finally arrived, I couldn’t wait to begin. I LOST 5 pounds in the first week and another THREE pounds in the second week! THANK YOU BEACHBODY! Even better than the weight loss was how amazing I felt when my husband told me that he was PROUD of me for being so committed to fitness. How about that for some motivation!
I used the 10-Minute Trainer in the mornings because I needed a FAST and EFFECTIVE workout. In the evenings, I rotated between Hip Hop Abs, Turbo Jam, and Slim in 6. My children love Shaun T.’s Fit Kids Club and they have often been found exercising right next to me.
NOW that I will continue to see the pounds and inches melt away because I will keep on PUSHING PLAY. Scheduling my workouts in advance really helps me to hold myself ACCOUNTABLE. I thrive on the feeling of accomplishment that I get after completing challenging tasks. I look forward to bringing my weight back down into the” one hundred seventy something” range as quickly as I can!

UPDATE on June 11, 2009:
In January, I began ChaLEAN Extreme and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, I dislocated my knee and it took a several weeks to recover. A few months later, my other knee cap slid off track and interrupted my workouts for what seemed like forever! I went to a specialist and learned that due to my heredity and height, my patellas easily slip off-track. I now wear two knee braces every time I exercise and take Beachbody’s Joint Support supplements twice a day. I’m happy to report that I am now PAIN FREE! The only good thing about these unwanted setbacks is that they have made me hunger even more to turn my own body into a BEACHbody. Currently, I am working on the Burn Phase of Chalean Extreme and will finally move into the Lean Phase in July. I’m also training to become a jogger for the first time in my life. I’ve laready completed three 5Ks and look forward to progressing to 10Ks in the future.
