Hi! I’m Tracy. I am a 35 year old stay-at-home mom of two BEAUTIFUL kids and a wonderful husband. My son is 5 and my daughter is 3 so I stay pretty busy! Recently, I became a group exercise instructor for 24 Hour Fitness and I am loving every minute of it!! I have not always been into health and fitness – I can PROMISE you that. What changed? My son is 5 and my daughter is 3 so I stay pretty busy! Recently, I became a group exercise instructor for 24 Hour Fitness and I am loving every minute of it!! I have not always been into health and fitness – I can PROMISE you that. What changed? In October of 2007, I was diagnosed with cervical cancer and with that diagnosis, I began a new life. I had just turned 34 years old and here I was with CANCER. Fortunately, I was able to have it all removed with surgery – I was so very lucky. At that moment, I realized that I was getting a second chance to be the healthiest wife, mom and friend I could be and I wasn’t going to let this slip away. We get ONE BODY and ONE LIFE. Our bodies allow us to do the most AMAZING things everyday – I FINALLY realized that and I was going to treat it the way it deserved to be treated! I have always been overweight – whether it was the “freshman 15” or the “I’m-too-lazy 50”, I’ve always struggled. I’d get motivated here and there, join a gym, get a trainer, stick to it for about 3 months, lose some weight and then I’d slack off and it would come right back on (and then some!). I accepted my constant failures with diet and exercise and just chalked it up to “this is my body type and I can’t do much about it”. WE CAN DO EVERYTHING ABOUT IT. I know that now and I’m here to help anyone who will listen! I love life and feel better than I’ve ever felt so if I can help inspire or motivate even one person, that would mean the world to me. Life is too short to not be healthy and happy with yourself inside and out.

So now I’ve gone on about what brought me to health an fitness – what are the facts? How much have I lost? I HAVE LOST 45 lbs. so far and have about 5 more to go. I have gained a whole new appreciation of life, nutrition, good health and fitness. It took me 33 years to finally get it but I get it and I want to share it! How did I get started? I joined a gym and started attending group exercise classes! That is why I became an instructor because group exercise is what changed my life. It had variety, great music, great energy and other people to keep me motivated. I am a very competitive person so working out with other people helped push me that much harder…and, it kept me going for a full hour or more! So I had the exercise down and I was hooked – not to mention, most gyms have an area where you can drop off your children so you can have an hour to yourself – don’t we all deserve that? Aren’t we better parents if we are healthy?? Here I was going 5 or 6 days a week and the weight was coming off, but pretty slowly for as much as I was doing. Then, I realized, it was time to evaluate my diet because in the end, it’s all about calories in and calories out. I started writing down everything I was putting in my mouth and WOW! That was where I was going wrong. I was eating way too much, with most of it being the wrong type of food. Now that my body was becoming more lean, I wanted to fuel it with food that it could USE, not just empty calories. Once I made gradual changes to my diet, it all fell into place and the weight started coming off at a safe, reasonable pace of about 2 lbs a week. I had made it a lifestyle change – it was no longer a diet! IT CLICKED! I finally got it! The more I got in shape, the more I wanted to do the right thing for my body – to eat the right things and not waste my calories on food that did nothing for me! I do still splurge on my favorite things – a glass of wine here and there, chips and salsa (hey, I live in Texas!), warm chocolate chip cookies (I’m human!) and pasta – I just do it in moderation now. Yes, you’ve heard it before – do it all in moderation and WHEN we do decide splurge, just add a little extra time at the gym! I could go on and on about all of this – the fact is, I GET IT and I want to help other people GET IT.
