I have been extremely active in sports since I was 6 years old and was a member of a track and field team. At 18 I switched from track and field to long distance running and tennis. I have three children, all of which are now grown up. The pregnancies sidelined me for some time and there were a couple of years in between I did not workout and had a fairly sedentary lifestyle. When at age 33 I joined the police force, I picked up weight lifting to increase my upper body strength. Even though I only stuck with the force for two years, I have been lifting weights consistently ever since. I never completely quit running either, but I scaled back from running 8 miles 6 days a week to around 3 miles three to four days a week during the summer. Treadmill and excercise bike during the winter but to a lesser degree..
Even though I continued working out on a more or less regular basis, my diet was horrendous. I was a true chocoholic and that's pretty much all I ate all day long. When my current husband told me if I continue on like this with my eating I will be a diabetic soon, I became scared for the first time in my life. I have friends who are diabetic and I've seen what diabetics go through. I didn't want to loose a leg or my eyesight, or even my life. Being adopted I also had no genetic history to compare whether I was prone for heart disease and diabetics or not. My health was all up to my personal lifestyle and that included my diet. I decided that drastic changes were in store.
I started to eat clean and work out on a regular basis including running as well as weightlifting. That was 12 years ago. Over the past 2 years my efforts have waned and I started to plateau. I did not see any improvements. I had gotten myself into a workout rutt. The same thing evey day, day in day out with no guidance or support. My body did not respond anymore. As a result it became easier to convince myself that I can skip a day or two, or even a week. I had no one holding me accountable or giving me a swift kick in the rear. When I saw the informercial on P90X, within a minute I knew that this is what I needed to get back on track, and stay on track. P90X had everything I needed, structure, accountability and most of all support from a whole bunch of people just like me. That call I made that Sunday afternoon has probably been the best decision I have ever made.
I am now on a continuous journey to improve my health and lifestyle. I feel better, I feel stronger, and I walk taller since I started just 30 days ago. I will make P90X and the other Beachbody programs my lifelong journey. A journey, I hope, will last for many decades to come. I shall keep you updated on my progress.
Update October 09, 2009: I have started P90X+ a week ago and it is amazing how much results I am seing doing this program. After finishing two round of the X, I did an eight week One on One program mixed in with some Insanity and Ashtanga Yoga and then took two weeks off. I love being back on track with Tony and seing big results.
My before and after pictures have made it into the new infomercial and have inspired me to keep on going and set even higher goals for me. 2010 is already booked up with intense hybrid One on One programs, a round of Insanity, Insanity/P90X Hybrid, and later in the year another round of P90X+.

Well, here I am at day 28 and just completed Phase I of P90X. I feel great, in matter of fact, I feel better then I have in the past few years. I am actually making the kind of progress I have searched for for so long without success. In just four weeks I managed to reduce my bodyfat from 19% to 16%. It has always been hard for me to keep from losing weight while on a strict nutrition plan and workout schedule. With P90X I am actually able to maintain my weight but losing the inches I want to lose. I know there is still a long road ahead of me, but the 28 day results have given me the inspiration to take this all the way and beyond. Looking forward to day 60.
I just finished my first round of P90X and the results have surprised even me. In 90 days with P90X I managed to surpass what I have tried to achieve in 12 years working out on my own without a structured plan and the support from the forums. I am now entering my 2nd round of P90X and I know this is going to be a lifelong journey. I already have plans to continue with P90X+ and CEX later in the year. I'm almost 46 but I feel better and stronger then I had when I was 20.
2012 update: After taking a 15 day break from workouts in December and quitting being a coach, I started it back up again on January 1 with an Insanity Asylum/P90X hybrid workout for 4 weeks. In February I will add P90X:MC2 and regular Insanity into the mix.
