Marion, OH With the help of team beachbody, shakeology and P90X I have been able to reach a new level of fitness that I never thought I would be able to achieve. I've struggled with weight my entire life and have spent many days fighting the temptation of food. My goals are to lead a healthy physical and nutritional lifestyle so that I can be an example to my children and friends. After I had my first child I got big, I don't mean, "10 pounds of cute little chub". I put on almost 90 pounds. I was a size 20 and weighed over 200 pounds. I was miserable and embarrassed. Guys I More ...
After I had my first child I got big, I don't mean, "10 pounds of cute little chub". I put on almost 90 pounds. I was a size 20 and weighed over 200 pounds. I was miserable and embarrassed. Guys I used to date would get this look on their face like, "I'm soooo glad I didn't end up marrying her" when they would see me for the first time since high school, it was humiliating. The worst part is my blood pressure was through the roof and my health was affected. I had gotten into this vicious cycle of not exercising because I was to tired and always had work or had kids to run after. I made excuses of, “It’s to hard, I don’t like all that healthy food or I have a slow metabolism. I remember , at the young age of 25, I went shopping and couldn't fit into a size 20 pants! I couldn’t believe it! Only 5 years prior I had been 125 pounds of rock solid muscle. I was the athletic track star who had gone to State and broke school records! The cheerleader who flaunted around in short skirts! Mortified I cried in the dressing room and decided enough was enough. From that moment on I've made exercise a priority, not just for vanity, but because my dad was overweight with high blood pressure and died in his sleep at 54 because he was to busy to work out and change his eating habits. I didn’t want to lead that same life. I ended up losing 65 pounds in 8 months through hard work. I then went through a divorce and lost 30 more. I thought I was the picture of health. I thought I had put the past behind me, but I was wrong. I remarried my wonderful husband in January of 2008 and we decided to have another child (his 1st, my 3rd! YIKES). I worked out diligently up to my 36th week of pregnancy! (I was determined not to repeat the mistakes of my past) and eased up to just walking the last 3 weeks. After our daughter was born I watched what I ate and was back in the kickboxing room just 4 weeks after our little Jillibean was born and the weight started melting off, but alas, old habits die hard and the old familiarity of poor nutrition crept back into my life. Although it was only 15 pounds it felt like 100. I was not the sassy girl my husband had married and it was starting to show. I had actually started to resign myself to my old ways, then my husband introduced me to 2 of the most important men in my life, Shaun T. and Tony Horton! God bless all three of those men. With my husband by my side we took on this new challenge of learning and living a healthy lifestyle. With the nutrition program set up in P90X we learned about eating right. I was already the cardio queen, but with this new knowledge I have begun to see transformations in my body that I never thought possible. We began to educate ourselves about what we were putting in our mouth and have become conscious about eating clean. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Chipotle and pizza and chocolate and ice cream and… WHO AM I KIDDING I LOVE FOOD, but I’ve learned that I am what I eat and instead of these things being the food that I ate on an everyday basis I have put them into a category reserved for celebration of special moments (by the way, I believe that my children actually listening to me is a miraculous occasion to be rewarded with 1 chocolate chip cookie). To me the knowledge of healthy eating has been more empowering to me than any exercise, but that’s why I feel these programs are something to be excited about. You get so much more from them. You get amazing workouts, nutrition, support, a feeling of brotherhood and a sense of accomplishment when you finish them. I’m proof that it only takes one decision to change. Once you make it the world is full of possibilities.
