Whether you are a diabetic, type 1 or type 2, overweight, have poor eating Hello, and welcome to Team P3! www.projectpressplay.com I'm Matt Herbst, a husband, father, student, a health and fitness enthusiast, and a type 1 diabetic. I have been insulin-dependent for 25 years and have learned through life experience that being healthy and feeling good isn't a part-time commitment. Whether you are a diabetic, type 1 or type 2, overweight, have poor eating habits, or are in excellent shape like Tony Horton, you still have to do the work on a regular basis to get fit and to stay fit. I am a new coach and have recently completed week 11 of the P90X workout program. As someone who understands the importance of staying fit and eating right to maintain my health, I have used several workout programs throughout my life. My wife, Linda introduced me to the P90X infomercial one day, as she was interested in improving her health as well. After watching the commercial I thought that it seemed like a really well put together program and not just some fly-by-night fitness routine that can leave a person unsatisfied, unhealthy, and lacking results. P90X is designed to work your entire body while improving your cardio health, muscle strength, agility, balance and coordination. Most fitness programs cannot say that! After completing the first week, I noticed how great I felt. I had more energy, an improved positive attitude, and I looked forward to each workout every day. As a result I also noticed that my food cravings changed into more healthy ones, rather than the fast and easy food choices. As my wife and I continued with the program, I began to gain muscle and improve my appearance. The best part is the way I feel on the inside! All I have to do is remain committed and keep pressing play. As a type1 diabetic, I have also experienced some great health improvements as well. My metabolism has improved as a result of the regular exercise which in turn results in fewer highs and lows in my blood sugar readings. The peaks and valleys of the blood sugar are what can lead to heart disease. My doctor expressed her concerns with this prior to me starting the P90X workout program. After that doctor’s appointment I knew that I needed to do something to improve my health. I think we all know that physical exercise maintains good health and can help resolve a lot of health issues within the body that we may not even be aware of. Since beginning P90X my blood glucose control has improved, even while gaining 8 pounds of muscle! Upon my last doctor’s appointment, she recommended that I reduce my insulin intake. Since beginning P90X, my overall insulin intake has been reduced from about 65 units per day, to less than 50 units per day! More superb results through physical exercise! This goes to show how doing the work (exercise and/or P90X) can improve your health in so many ways, and has the potential to correct or at least improve certain health conditions. About 5 weeks into the program, my wife learned that one can become a coach through Beachbody and can earn a little extra income as well. For myself this is ideal. After years of working in management and working for someone else I became unhappy with my career choices. I changed jobs for less pay which allowed me time to pursue an education in health and nutrition. I realized that I didn't want to go to work just to earn a living, I wanted to have more of a purpose, I wanted to help others. I want to help others to become healthy, wealthy, and happy! Becoming a Beachbody coach is the means by which I can accomplish this! As my pursuit of health and fitness continues through the Beachbody programs, I have realized that there are times when I need some additional support. My wife and I do workouts together every night, and believe me, there are days when it is very tough to keep pressing play. My wife and I are each others' support team, but what's great about Beachbody is that it is founded on peer support. Many people do not finish their workout programs because they feel alone and need some additional motivation. I am here to help. I am passionate about being healthy and fit and I want you to be as well. Passion brings motivation, which brings results. What's your passion? Please email me your fitness and nutrition goals and tell me a little about yourself too! GOteamp3@gmail.com My goal here is to improve your health and fitness and to change your life for the better! I will be very excited to share my experiences in whatever way they can benefit you! All you have to do is Bring It! I look forward to being your source of encouragement and support as your Beachbody Coach! I will help you find a program that works for you. My name is Matt Herbst and I am a Type 1 Diabetic. Everyone knows that exercise and nutrition are core to a healthy lifestyle – but getting on track with an exercise program can be a challenge. I started P90X in March of 2010, graduated from the program and have had amazing results. It has ignited not only my zest in life but has helped maintain my insulin levels for the better. In addition to P90X, I drink Shakeology daily. It has helped balance my insulin levels and is a supplement I won't go without. In addition to Shakeology, I also take a protein supplement. I am one of those people that have a hard time gaining weight and have learned through the Beachbody programs that diet is key to any fitness routine. The protein supplement has helped me gain weight, build muscle and recover quickly from my workouts. Since beginning P90X my blood glucose control has improved, even while gaining 12 pounds of muscle! Upon my last doctor’s appointment, she recommended that I reduce my insulin intake. Since beginning P90X, my overall insulin intake has been reduced from about 65 units per day, to less than 50 units per day. I have gained 3 inches in my chest; 2 inches to my legs and arms and have never felt better in managing my disease. I just started Insanity and am excited to experience the program and see how my fitness journey progresses. Follow me at www.projectpressplay.com | Please sign in to flag this as inappropriate.
