I am Danish/American, grew up and have lived in Denmark most of my life, I moved to the States in 1992, and today I’m 44, a single mom of two live young men (ages 14 and 16). I literally had to hit rock bottom for me to wake up and do something about my health. I got divorced in 2002, it was tough to be on my own dealing with everything and to be honest I really didn't deal with the whole situation very well... which resulted in 2003 at the age of 36 and a single parent, my boys at the time were 6 and 8 years old, my health took a major dumpster dive and I had managed to completely run my health into the ground... In a years time I had lost about 45 lbs... but in a very unhealthy way... and I messed up my immune system by not eating right and not sleeping... working out was not something I ever did back then... I wasn't overweight so what was the need?? right ??? When trying to work out in the past, I don't think I had ever made it past the first couple of weeks successfully, my knees usually would give me trouble so I gave up pretty fast. I come from a tall skinny family and at 5'10" and and even at my highest which was about 190 lbs I was the short fat one in my family... by losing 45 lbs I was now down to a healthy weight for my height... but it sure didn't feel that way... Every single joint in my body was hurting and I constantly felt like I had the flu... it started 4th of July weekend 2003 when the boys and I were vacationing by the coast... it felt like I was having the flu and my right arm was useless, which made it hard driving the car home... And over the next many months I went though test after test, with different doctors and specialists, and after many months, after everything else was ruled out, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)... an autoimmune disease that eats away your joints... At first it was a devastating blow... single mom looking at the possibility of being crippled in a very short time and something that would now never go away, according to the doctors... no fun at all... so in the beginning I followed the doctors orders and what they recommended, signed up for a gym membership, did the normal thing anyone would do in that situation (or so I would like to think) but after a year and a half and I was still in pain, could barely walk at that point... every day task were painful and difficult... sleeping was painful... getting dressed and ready for work was painful... working at the computer was painful... now what do you do??? The doctors kept trying different prescription medication making it stronger and more toxic... and I didn't like that either... I'm not sure where the break though came, other than it was the culmination of many little things, after countless of hours of researching online about RA... doing a bunch of small seemingly little insignificant things to help make it better... not knowing if this one would work or the next one... but in my desperate attempt I did a lot of may seem like very tiny things... (if you want more details I'll be happy to share more in detail, but I am not going to put it all here right) My main thing though was finding Beachbody (fall of 2005)... you know the late night infomercial... after giving up on the gym membership, I needed something I could fit into my busy day as a single mom and working full time and this fit that bill perfectly... Started with Slim in 6... and moved on to Power 90... got the P90 Master Series... and went to my first Tony Horton Fitness Camp in 2006... I just love how he was able to push me further than I had ever gone before... I think at the time I was afraid if I pushed it to hard my already hurting body would break apart... but it didn't and Tony Horton made me see that. Then I got daring and moved up to P90X and loved it... After a year of using the different BB products and changing my eating habits and life style... I gradually started tapering down my medications and eventually in May of 2007 I took my final prescribed pill for RA... and today November 2011 I continue to be pain free and manage my condition though a healthy life style... and a few other natural solutions... Since then I have ventured even further doing both ChaLean Extreme, Insanity and Turbo Fire and have on top of that completed three 1/2 half marathons, and the DFW MudRun, which is a 10K in the mud getting though 20 obstacles... the DFW Warrior Dash, a shorter run again with muddy obstacles :) At the age of 44 I feel better than ever and can only say it's going to get better from here, age is just a number... People say that every thing is Down Hill after the age of 40, I say that is true only if you want it to be :) My Progress My fitness goal: Get Healthy Transformation story

Beachbody really helped me find a passion in my life that I had no clue I had in me... I have always been the clumsy one... the tall one with too much arms and legs... not fitting in... and definitely not when it came to any type of sports... With the tools and support from the community I have found something that I can stick to and feel good about... it's has improved my health in so many ways... This makes it real simple, so that if you follow a program you will see results... of course we all have life getting in our way from time to time... so we get back on the wagon again and continue... even though the programs are 6 weeks or 90 days... this is really a matter of the rest of your life... I’m finally seeing the benefits of exercise I have always looking for on my own body... and I do not feel like a total klutz like I did before… I even dare workout in public… totally out of my comfort zone and something I would never have done before now… that in itself is an amazing experience for me... and incredibly motivating... My future goal no longer has the primary focus on my weight, though I know I can still lose some in size, and especially since I recently had a setback and gained some weight back... but more importantly I continue working on improving my health and finding the balance between life, work and rest. I want to continue to run, as it's something I really enjoy after sitting at my desk all day long... I am here because it makes me feel fantastic from the inside out and the BeachBody people, along with all the really great friends I have found here are what keeps me going in my journey to great health... I have tried most of the workouts… and I’m addicted for sure... I'm currently doing TurboFire and getting back to my running... I just love the way these workouts can be mixed and matched into something that will fit my busy schedule... I have to say I never though it possible for me to find fun in fitness… but BeachBody has made that possible for me and for me it is a new way of life... I hope you too will find what I have found… and together we can make a difference in each others lives and in the lives of the people around us. In my daily life I see people struggle with their weight or their health and now I can say ‘Hi, I can help’... and you can too...
