Fort Sam Houston, TX I did 8 years active duty Army and even though I was in the best shape of my life, it never really looked like it. I never got toned and although there was muscle, it was hidden behind a layer of fat. I didn't really mind this because I was doing what I had to do physically and scoring almost max on my APFT (Army Physical Fitness Test).

In 2005, I decided 8 years was enough. I had gotten married and my wife and I wanted to start a family (which we now have a 3 year old girl and identical twin 6 month old boys). Over the course of the next 5 years I got LAZY.... REALLY REALLY LAZY. I gained 55 pounds (up to 260+ at the peak). One day my wife came up to give me a hug and I looked in the mirror. I was saddened to see that her hands weren't even close to touching. That night I looked at some of my old Army photos then looked in the mirror. That was my breaking point.

I had heard a ton of radio ads for P90X and thought that it was the same as all the other workout DVDs on the market. I was about a day from just joining a gym and hitting a treadmill (which I would probably get bored with in a few weeks) when a friend of mine started talking about P90X.
He told me that the exercises were REALLY hard, but really fun. He showed me the website and pointed out some of the results that other people had posted. I was intrigued, but a little strapped for cash (2 babies can really make your wallet lose some weight). He then told me that he had stopped doing it because he was always on the road and couldn't really keep up with a 90 day program, so he gave me his. It was missing the nutrition guide, but had everything else. I figured I would give it a try.
Still skeptical about how hard a DVD workout would be (Hell, I made it through basic training) I popped the first DVD in and pressed play. Needless to say, I was wrong. I wished I had done this BEFORE basic training. I probably would have laughed at the drill sergeants (not out loud though) making me do push-ups.
90 days have come and gone. The results have been amazing! Over 40 pounds have disappeared. You can watch the transformation here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oylviaD7wu0
