I was a very fit guy in HS, only weighed no more than 147 soaking wet. I played all kind of sports basketball, football, and softball. When I joined the military I was in the tip-top shape of my life. The military kept me fit and disciplined, I pretty much ate what I want when I wanted. After I got out of the military I weighed about 175lbs pure muscle and had 7% to 8% body fat.

Since my time in the military my health started to seriously decline slowly but surely. I was a smoker and a drinker, constantly stressed out, and never had time to work out because I was always busy. I saw myself just gain and gain until I was about 250lbs. I tried joining a gym but to me a lot of folks weren’t serious about working out but more concern in socializing and chit chatting. So the gym just wasn’t for me it was kind of intimidating because I felt a little embarrassed about how I looked. I tried crazy crash diets and all kinds of other diets but they didn’t really work for me. It felt like I was starving myself and then I would gorge myself right after the diet. My eating habit was pretty bad. I’ve tried other exercise programs and they didn’t work either.

However over three years ago I did lose some weight because it was really messing with my health. I had high blood pressure and I was always out of breath when I walked up “one” flight of stairs. I had high cholesterol and high sugar. Also the most shamefully thing to me was that I could not keep up with my son, I was constantly tired. When I did lose the weight I went down to about 206. I stop smoking and drinking and was pretty much trying to live a healthier lifestyle.

During that timeframe I met my fiancé, and I put on some happy weight and started to begin those bad eating habits that I worked so hard to get rid of. I stop working out because I went back to school for my grad degree and with a new management level position at work, I had a lot more responsibilities and didn’t have the time to work out. Plus other factors in my life were bringing me unwanted stress, so I recently found myself back to 230lbs and somewhat unhealthy.

Several months ago one late night I was up flipping through the channels and I stop at the P90x infomercial. I’ve seen it several times before but I never really stop to look at it. So this night I said “What the hell”, let’s see what this program have to offer. I was very skeptical at first, because I’ve seen the typical fitness infomercial, they promise you all these amazing results with half the work or time.

However with P90x it was a little different, they didn’t say it was easy, they didn’t say you have to only work half the time. It was the total opposite, Tony Horton only promise good results if you invest your time, follow the regimen, stay committed, stay motivated “BRING IT” and you can achieve the results you want because you worked hard to get it.

So I did my research about the program for a couple of months and I really could not find anything negative about it. I couldn’t believe that there was YouTube homemade videos about it. The videos I seen was amazing, these was no body doubles, no Photoshop pictures, and no air brushing. These was regular people like me who just committed themselves to the program and said “Enough is enough”, they was going to take control of their health and their lifestyles. I am still to this day shock at the results I saw.

After all my research I was convinced I was going to commit myself to P90x and give everything I got “BRING IT” as MR. Tony Horton would say. So I ordered the program, I did a little research on supplements I must take. I have never taken a supplement a day in my life however I was going to start now. I bought the P90X Results and Recovery packets, the P90X Peak Performance Bars, the P90X Peak Health Formula Performance Formula, and a tub of Whey Protein. I also got the P90x chin-up bar which my Fiancé bought me as a Christmas present about 2 years ago that was collecting dust, a yoga mat and blocks, a few sets of dumbbells, push up bars.

Now I had to figure out how I was going to incorporate this fitness program in my hectic schedule. So I figured it out, I’ll do it in the morning. In which I was totally against at first because I haven’t done it in such a long time since I was in the military. Now I had to change my eating habits, so I made sure that I followed the nutrition guide word for word and I got rid of all the snacks and junk food in the house. I did a total food over haul, I even bought food I have never ate or like before but if it was in the guide then it had to be bought.

When I first started the program I struggled and I mean I struggled badly, even the fit test was hard to me, there have been plenty of times within the first week I just wanted to pass out on my floor. However I just kept at it, kept doing it, persevered through it “BRING IT”, I love that term, thanks Tony. Right now I am half way through the program and I cannot believe the results I am seeing within myself and the things I can do with my body now. To me it’s totally mind boggling, I am so flexible now, I can bend my body in ways because of Yoga that I was never able to in my life because of my back. I was never flexible growing up and now I am more flexible than ever. I still can’t believe I can do one handed pushups, it’s amazing and I am only half way through the program. I am so excited to see how I will look by the end of it.
