Gilbert, AZ I have recently turned 41 and I am a single mom to 3 wonderful kids ages 20, 19 and 16. I have struggled with my weight my entire adulthood. I worked way too many hours and fast food became a staple at our kitchen table. I was surrounded by people that only ate two vegetables, corn and potatoes. Eventually, through hard work and the weight loss medication Phentermine I lost about 100 pounds. I have recently turned 41 and I am a single mom to 3 wonderful kids ages 20, 19 and 16. Unfortunately, I slowly gained back every pound and a few more. I like to joke that if I kept off all of the weight I have lost over the years I would be in the negative. That's because I have lost and gained 25 pounds or more many times. I have struggled with energy, time and plain old laziness. Maybe even a little fear of failure too.
Well, all of that has changed. Right before my 41st birthday I took stock of my life. I made a "bucket list" of things I wanted to do before turning 40 and reviewed the list before turning 41. Some of the things on list are hiking the Grand Canyon and riding in a hot air balloon. I would love to do that! So what's stopping me? ME that's what. I made a decision that I had absolutely no choice but to get healthy and lose weight. I work with seniors who have Alzheimer's and other dementia causing diseases and I know risk factors include obesity, hypertension, diabetes, diet, excercise etc. My health and my lifestyle put me at risk for developing any one of those diseases and Alzheimer's. I want to do everything I can to live my life to the fullest so that's what I am doing.
I had Chalean Extreme sitting on my dresser for about three months and finally committed to doing it. I set a goal to lose 30 pounds at the end of 12 weeks and so far so good. I have one week left and I am down 29 pounds. I have completely changed the way I eat and have never felt better. I eat healthy, lots of fruit and veggies, lean protein, avoid fast food and soda. I eat frequently throughout the day and drink a lot of water.
I realized that my dreams will not come true if I don't take action. So...I have scheduled a trip to hike the Grand Canyon in October of 2012. That gives me a year to get in shape and my first training hike was today. I will not look back because all of my dreams are ahead. It's not entirely about weight loss but about a lifestyle change that makes my mind and body fit. Fit enough to live out my dreams, to ride in a hot air balloon without having to pay extra, to hike without being a burden to my hiking buddies, to have confidence and feel great mentally and physically.
Why Beachbody? I have been a huge fan (literally) of Beachbody for years. I started doing Turbo Jam in 2005 and lost some weight but of course, gained it back. Turbo Jam was fun and Chalene is highly motivating. This time I wanted something that would increase my strength and build some muscle so I picked Chalean Extreme. I have not been disappointed! Now, I am a coach and I am helping others on their journey. There is nothing more rewarding than helping others achieve their fitness goals. I plan on doing Turbo Fire next and then P90X after that.
I look forward to hearing everyones successes, struggles and victories. I can't do this alone so if you are like me and need support I would love to help in any way I can.
