Today is November 17, 2008.

Two and a half years ago I weighed 220lbs and was totally out of shape. I saw a picture of myself and said "That's it! I am way too fat!! I can't believe that is me. I have to make a change". As someone who used to exercise a lot, I had become sedentary and I knew if I didn't make a change I would be headed for a heart attack; I hated the way I looked.

At that time I began eating a more balanced diet and started hitting the gym for a lot of Spin Classes (Love the bike, I used to ride a ton) and started my road back to better health. In about 18 months I dropped 30lbs and got down to 190lbs and lost 7+ inches around my waist.

In November of 2007 I started lifting weights in addition to my aerobic routine (mostly spinning). I have been doing that for a year and basically maintained that same weight and waist line for the last year.

For the last three months I have been feeling like I need to go to another level. While the weights have made a difference that I can feel, the improved muscles are still hidden below way too much fat. I wanted to drop the excess
fat and I knew my current diet and excercise plan were not going to take me where I wanted to go. My legs looked great but my upper body still looked fat. I saw people in
the gym doing plyo and I thought "Hey, that would be good", but I don't know of any programs.

Totally by accident on a Wakeboarding forum that I frequent, someone said they were going to do P90X during the off-season to get ready for '09. This may come as a shock to those of you who have been around this community for a long time; but I had never heard of P90X. I searched it out on the web and I knew immediately this was what I was looking for. In one of the video clips Tony Horton said something about his age, I think he said he is 50. If a guy who is a few years older than me can look like that?! I thought "Where do I sign up?"

So here I am. I am going to keep my transformation goal realistic. I know this is long-term and 90 days will not be the "be all, end all" and it is going to take a life-long commitment. So for round one it would be to drop some body fat maybe to the mid teens, and get my weight down to 175. And hopefully, probably after two rounds start showing some muscle definition in my upper body. If I'm dreaming really big, then I would achieve some of those abs I have been seeing on the forum!!

UPDATE 3/3/09: Just finished my 90 Days and I am so happy with what I have achieved. I have lost 18 lbs, and 10% Body Fat in that period. I am down to 20% body fat.

I rolled straight into Round 2 of The "X" starting 3/2/09 with a major goal for this round of dropping Body Fat. I believed from the start it was going to take two rounds of the X to get to where I wanted to be. So I am half-way there. I'm thinking the obviously visible results around my mid-section will come within the next 60 days. Let's see how it goes!

UPDATE: April '09 Now down to 173lbs almost 25lbs gone with the X. BF is now at 17% and waist is 36.5 inches. That means from the time I was 220lbs to now at 173lbs my waist has lost an even 12 inces!!!

UPDATE: June '09. Now down to 171lbs and body fat is at 16.2%. Progress has understandably slowed. My goal is still to do a steady burn down of body fat to a goal of 12%. Just started Round 3 and I'm suplementing with Tony Horton 1on1. Also I am taking my nutrition to an even higher level this round.
