During my younger years I was always involved with athletics. I played
basketball, volleyball and ran on the track team. After having a baby at the
tender age of 15, I was told that statistics showed that I would have three
children by the time I was 20, and would be on welfare for the rest of my life.
At 17 years old I started college in an effort to prove statistics wrong. I was a
single mother of a two-year-old child and going to college full time,
unfortunately this left me with little time to focus on fitness and my nutrition
fell by the way side. I gained 20-30 pounds while obtaining my bachelors
degree in Nursing.

After obtaining my bachelors degree, I received a Direct Commission into The
Army Nurse Corp. These were some of the best years of my life where I
served my country and traveled all around this great nation of ours. I was
forced to exercise a few specific times of the year to pass my physical
training test but never really started a focused fitness program. My weight
would yo-yo up and down as I tried every "Quick Fix" possible.

In 1994, I was accepted into Graduate school to obtain my Master's degree in
Anesthesia, while still serving in the Army. Once again education pushed the
fitness training aside and I gained back every ounce I had lost and then some.

Shortly after graduating from Anesthesia school at age 29, I had my second
child. I was coerced by some co-workers to run a 5K race with them (which I
thought would be impossible- but I did it). Shortly thereafter, I had caught
the "running bug" and completed a half marathon. I lost a lot of weight with
training for races but that came to a halt when I became pregnant with my
third son in 1999. I found pregnancy as an excuse to eat whatever I wanted.
My weight ballooned to 198lbs at his delivery.

As the years have passed since then, I have had some periods of time where I
have had great weight loss but never any muscle definition. I seemed to reach
a plateau and I have always struggled with that last 10-20 lbs and a lack of
any muscle definition to be considered a "Hard Bod."

This brings me to the summer of 2007; I hit rock bottom when I could no
longer fit in to any of the clothes I had wore the previous summer. I had
developed a “muffin top” and my children were making comments about my
fat jiggling when they would play with me; bless their hearts for their
honesty! I knew if I did not do something right then, that my weight was
going to spiral out of control. The gym was not an option for me as it was
100 miles round trip. I had to find something I could do in my own home.
Ironically, that evening I saw the infomercial that will undoubtedly be the
turning point in my life to reaching my goal of becoming a "Hard Bod". After
seeing Tony Horton's P90X infomercial I decided that I had to reach deep
within myself, to find that same inner strength that it took for me to
overcome having a baby at 15 years old if I was going to succeed at having
the body of my dreams. I believed that I had found the way to forever remove
the words from my vocabulary that, "I have this last 10-20 pounds to lose".

My journey with P90X has been one of much excitement. The first 30 day I
saw myself really leaning out, my body was really getting into the schedule
and tempo of the workouts and I was adjusting to my new nutrition habits.
The second 30 days I felt stronger and stronger with each workout and
continued to lean out. I felt like my body really started to kick into high gear.
My clothes were all becoming very big on me. I entered my final 30 days with
much apprehension as I felt like I really hadn't gained as much muscle as I
wanted and I only had 30 days until my 90-day pictures. I continued to work
VERY hard during each and every workout. I took my nutritional discipline to
a level I never imagined possible and at my 90 day mark I can say that I
achieved awesome result. I gained muscle definition and I officially have
reached the BEST shape and physical condition of my life!

During my P90X journey I lost 20 pounds. I went from 26% body fat to 15%
body fat and in the process have gained muscle definition, strength and
stamina! For the first time in my life I can see my abs, I can see a six-pack
coming!! Most importantly, I have passed on the greatest gift in the world to
my children this being an understanding and great appreciation for fitness.

Overall, P90X has totally changed my state of mind and my daily energy level,
I practice Anesthesia for a living and my job can be very stressful at times
with long hours on my feet. Since starting P90X I have noticed that when I get
my workout in prior to going to work, I still have the endorphins flowing
through my body when I get to work. I feel like I am on cloud nine. I get
through my day without feeling anxious or uptight, I can take the long hours
standing and I come home from work much less exhausted than prior to
P90X.

Thanks to MDB/Beachbody I've learned not only how to exercise properly but
also how to eat properly in order to build muscle and burn fat. In this journey
of finding fitness I have regained self-confidence and self esteem.
I can honestly say that being fit has influenced every aspect of my life!!!

As I push forward to my next round of P90X, I have raised the bar higher for
myself; I will never stop on the quest for ultimate fitness. I feel that
MDB/Beachbody along with my Coach have truly given me the knowledge and
tools to help others change their lives and reach their fitness goals. I have
gladly accepted the challenge to become a Million Dollar Body Fitness Coach
and am looking forward to passing on this amazing gift that has been given
to me.

I would like to pass on a big heart felt THANK YOU to Tony Horton and the
whole MDB/Beachbody team, in addition to my Coach, Tami French and all of
the individuals I interact with on a daily basis on the Million Dollar Body
threads. I have finally been able to attain the goals I have dreamed about for
years.
