After almost 2 years to the day I first attempted P90X, I’m back and going to go the distance. In 2010, it ended up being P30X for reasons I cannot remember. My goal is to get into summer shape by the time we usually go and visit my wife’s family in TX for the 4th of July.

The best shape I was in was in Fall 2002-Spring 2003. I started running and biking on alternating days with a SSG in the Army Rangers. I went from puffing and hardly able to complete 3 miles to being able to run 3 miles, 5 miles and over 3 miles with "fartlets". I was able to more than double miles ridden regardless of terrain. I went from a soft 180 to a trim 165.

From January-March of 2003, I changed focus and lifted weights 6 days a week on a 3 day split. The only cardio was that required to maintain my USAF fitness levels. Even with a bout of pneumonia in the middle, I was able to go from 165 to 200 pounds which was factored at a body-fat percentage increase from 8% to 12%.

My goals for this current effort are the same as last time (because it was a proper plan poorly executed!):

1. Weight: Increase to 200 lbs
2. Waist: 35-37”
3. Hips: 39-41”
4. Chest: not less than 44”
5. Right and left arm: not less than 17”
6. Right and left thigh: not less than 30”
7. Body fat: not more than 14%
8. Cholesterol and Blood pressure: TBD

This time, my 18 year old daughter and 15 year old son are joining me. This will be their homeschool P.E. I will definitely keep up with my progress better this time!
