I home schooled from the end of 3rd grade through the end of freshman year.
In 8th grade and freshman year I was enrolled in a supplemental PE program
designed for homeschoolers. It was three hours twice a week. Each year we
took a quarter to work on something specific. One quarter it was to walk/jog,
by the end, we were up to 10 miles during our 3hrs (really 2.5 as we had to
dress down and up, as well as warm up and down in that time as well) The
next quarter we worked on weights, and then swimming. By the end of
swimming we were up to 2.5 miles in 2hours. Little did I know but, that was
the best shape I was in in my life. I weight 135 and could do and eat anything
without thinking much about it. I didn't know or appreciate the gift I had
been handed at the time.

Sophomore year I was enrolled in a private high school. Having hated my PE
class, I stayed away from most unnecessary activity. I did do track and was on
dance team though. I started to get soft, but hadn't gained much weight yet
at this point

I started dating my now husband at the end of junior year. We were in love
and we went out a lot. Way too much restaurant food later and I weighed 160
at the beginning of Sr year. I did dance team in the fall, but did not do any
athletic activities beyond that. By prom I was 185.

We got married when I was 20 and had our first baby by 21, I never quite lost
the weight after that. Our second son was born 15 months later.

My personal turning point was when my grandfather had decided to throw a
surprise birthday event for my grandmother in Hawaii. He flew over the whole
family, it was wonderful and terrible at the same time. I was 22, 205lbs, with
two kids under 20 months, and surrounded by my 10 supermodel cousins. I
had to buy new clothes to go, it sucked, we spent more than we had (all my
other summer clothes were maternity) and I hated everything we bought
because I thought I looked terrible in it all.

There really were two different vacations going on, the one where all my fit
cousins were out every day playing tennis, frisbee, surfing, etc. And the one
that consisted of nap times and being too tired/out of shape to do anything.
One day while I was in our condo bawling because I really hated how I looked
and how tired I was, the SI6 infomercial came on. Everything about it hit me
as right on. I connected with so many of the stories, I was sure it would work
for me.

I ordered it as soon as we came back. And then never did it. I just couldn't
open it up and start. So I ordered P90 and started in May. 2004, I finished the
rotation, had lost one and a half pant sizes and 14lbs. It was great. I was so
happy. I followed up with a round of Slim Series and dropped another pant
size and a half, I was now able to wear size 12 and run around with my kids.
It was great.

Then we moved. I stopped doing any kind of exercise, and our eating went
straight to poo. We bought a house, moved, and then fixed up our old one
ourselves getting it ready to sell. It was very stressful. I gained back about
15lbs. Then we decided to have another baby. While I was pregnant, we
ended up going through an evaluation process for our second son and
discovered that he had autism.

We had our baby and everyone went back to school in the fall, after further
testing, it came to light that our oldest son had Asperger's.

2008 was spent reforming to a GFCF diet for the kids, figuring out
supplements, and getting started in some supportive programs. While chasing
after a baby. I got up to 220lbs. My personal nightmare, I had not less than
two years before vowed to myself I would never go over 200 again, and here I
was at 220.

Now it's 2009. We have the kids' stuff at a more managed level, the baby is a
bit older, and it's my year now.

I am once again embarking on investing in my health. I want to be in shape
again. I want to be able to play with my children and be able to just do
anything we want. I also need to be able to be as fast as the fastest of my
boys, and always strong enough to pick two of them up and run after a third
if one gets away.

I am now doing ChaLEAN Extreme and am one month in, haven't missed a
day yet. I joined a locally held weight loss challenge for extra accountability.
This is my year. I will get into a size 12 by December, I will be able to run and
play till I want to quit, not until I'm too tired to go on.

Update 05/19/2009

No needing to wait until Dec for the size 12. I am now 193, and can button a size 12. I should be able to 'fit nicely' into it within another 4-6 weeks! That's a whole 6 months ahead of my goal!
