Fitness has always been a part of my career; some periods have been better than others. I deployed to Iraq in good shape but I guess that I ate a lot of the stress away while deployed and gained about 30 pounds the first 6 months. After R&R, I returned and finished out my 15-month deployment focused on both the mission and getting the weight off. I lost 50 pounds while there (20 more than I went there weighing) and returned home ready to get back into the lifting and running that I did not make the time for while deployed. I have worked out the same way since I was a young kid. After my return home, the lifting and running went well, but I wanted more. At 44 years old, I was not sure how much more it could be, but when I saw P90X, I knew that it was definitely my next step in the "More" Process. The Infantry World has given me some bumps and bruises along the way and I was worried about an extreme workout when it came to my knees, back, and shoulder, but after looking over the P90X Program, I knew that I could make this a new level for my fitness. Mental attitude is everything, and I WILL MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!! My Progress My fitness goal: Transformation story

Week 1: Well, I was worried about this entirely new approach to fitness compared to what my life has been spent doing. OLD WAY: Weight Training (M/W/F) Cardio (T/TH/SAT). I came through the first week feeling great! Upper body felt fine...maybe a little tight. Lower Body was definetely more, but not at all uncomfortable. All the workouts went fine...except for one: YOGA-X! For something supposed to be relaxing, I sweat my butt off!!! I did it and definitely see the benefit of it. Plyo and Kenpo were great and I was familiar with most of the moves. I love the change from my old ways and am excited about the next week...Hell, the whole Program!!! WEEK 2: It is hard to believe that week 2 is over. I started P90X in pretty good shape. I am happy with my weight and measurements, but I wanted more definition. I am definitely seeing some positive effects. My arms are getting more defined, and the ABS are showing good signs as well!!! I continue to be motivated every day by the workouts even though I dred the AB Ripper X and Yoga. On a good note, I am seeing significant improvement in all of my workouts. I have better balance in Yoga, Improved number of reps, and a much better burn / intensity. Even though I know that the workouts will be hard, I BRING IT EVEREY DAY!!! Week 3 is upon me and I am even more excited than last week. WEEK 3: It seems like just yesterday that I started P90X with the sole desire to bring my workouts to the next level. After 3 weeks on the program, I can see the point of slowing down the strength training and doing a week of core strength and stretching...with a little cardio thrown in for good measure. I am not sore, but joint and muscle tired is a good description. I still look forward to my workouts every day and the WOWY Support has been fun! I think that my fitness level has definitely increased as I can do most of the exercises and keep up with the people on the DVD. I see results in my Abs, Arms, and Chest...I am looking forward to the 30-Day Picture to see and compare results with my Start Photo. My confidence is way higher...if it needed to be any higher! The Plyo and Yoga have given me some new energy and I feel it every day in my workouts. Thanks for the WOWY Support...Keep Bringing It!!! WEEK 4: This was not an easy week, but it did give my muscles the opportunity to heal and get ready for PHASE 2. My diet slipped a little this week due to some family birthdays, but I did not go too crazy! It was my first time doing Core Synergystics and I liked it. It was easier than AB RIPPER X, but very different. At the end of the week I was mentally ready to hit PHASE 2 Hard!!! My assumption is that my body is physically ready as well. Took my 30-Day photos and I can see some results. Arms, Chest, Abs, Lats are definitely more defined. Even though my weight has not dropped as much as I thought it would, My pants are definitely looser. I like the results that I see!!! Still building a pretty good sized WOWY Network. I like seeing the same people inviting me and accepting my invites to work out. Even though my schedule fluctuates, I go to WOWY and schedule a workout simply because there is always someone there to share in the pain...Good Pain!!! PHASE 2, BRING IT!!! WEEK 5: This was a hard week. Might be because of the Phase 2 Diet Plan, Might be the whole Muscle Confusion Thing. Regardless, I seemed to be short of energy late in the workouts. Some of it might be because I am "Bringing It" harder as I gain more and more confidence. I made it through the week and remain dedicated to "Pushing Play" every day. Bring on Week 6! WEEK 6: I had a decent week despite the fact that I just don't feel like I am making the same gains as I did in previous weeks. I am physically smoked after every workout and that plays on the mental side of things since P90X is all about Bringing It Every Day and It is hard to see improvement when your ALWAYS SMOKED! I do see that my workouts are way more intense than they were at the start and I have noticed a big improvement in my flexibility. These two things alone keep me on track. As I enter Week 7, I have not lost the motivated I had in Week 1 and am driven to my next goal, the 60-Day Photo! | Please sign in to flag this as inappropriate.
