Anchorage, AK I live in Anchorage, Alaska with my husband of 11 years and our two daughters, ages 6 and 2. I turned 35 this year (2007) and decided it was about time to get myself into shape. I have been overweight my entire life, but I gained the most weight after getting married and through two pregnancies (and 2 C-sections)...about 60 pounds in all! Yikes!
I am a stay-at-home mom and love my job! :) I I live in Anchorage, Alaska with my husband of 11 years and our two daughters, ages 6 and 2. I am a stay-at-home mom and love my job! :) I have also done medical transcription in-home in the past, but I haven't been doing that for the past year. I miss the extra money, but I love the extra time with my girls...and the extra time to work out! :)
I am a trained singer and have enjoyed many years singing with the Alaska Chamber Singers, although I have taken some time off since our 2nd baby was born. I hope to get back to singing regularly in the next few years. I also enjoy hiking, walking, fishing, camping, and exploring Alaska...in addition to traveling outside of Alaska, as it does get pretty tiresome mid-winter! :)
My Progress My fitness goal: Lose Weight

When I moved to Alaska in 1995 I was 23 years old and I weighed in at about 190. After a year or so of marriage I topped the scales at 210, which was my weight when I found out I was pregnant with our first daughter. I lost and gained after she was born and settled in at about 245, where I pretty much stayed for the next several years. I began to lose weight again, getting down to about 232 when I got pregnant with our 2nd daughter! After her birth I lost some and gained more...this time topping out at 253! I was not happy. Needless to say, I did start to lose some weight through a modest and inconsistent exercise program and keeping a food journal (which I still do).
In July 2006 I started to get more consistent with exercise when I joined a local Turbo Kick class, working out three days per week. I lost about 13 pounds doing that and also added in some in-home Turbo Jam DVDs as well.
I decided to do a round of Power 90 in late February 2007 and made it through the whole 90 days! My results were not as good as I had hoped - losing 5.5 pounds and 9 inches - but with the muscle mass I had gained, I'm sure my fat loss was considerably more than just 5.5 pounds!
Since the end of May 2007, when I finished Power 90, I have been back to my in-home DVDs (Turbo Jam, Power 90, and Slim Series Express)...mixing it up so as not to get bored! I have also been getting out walking as much as possible and still going to my Turbo Kick class occasionally.
Since I have joined Million Dollar Body on 1/12/07, I have lost 15 pounds and 22.5 total inches...as of today, Friday, July 6, 2007! In addition to those wonderful statistics, I also was the $1,000 winner on 6/14/07! So I am living proof that it really does pay to work out!
I have further incentive to lose those pounds. Although my ultimate goal is a weight of 160-165 pounds, my father-in-law has promised me (and my family) a trip to Hawaii when I reach my first goal...200 pounds! I have 17 pounds left to go, so hopefully before the end of 2007 I will be buying a new swimsuit for the trip! Wish me good luck!
Well, I didn't make my goal of being down to 200 pounds by the end of 2007. But I'm not letting that get me down! My eating habits were poor during the fall/winter, and I knew I had to get back into gear! I did a makeshift Power 90 series - using Turbo Jam and Hip Hop Abs, in addition to Power 90 cardio workouts, and the Power 90 circuit training (on alternating days) - the first three months of 2008. My diet was still a bit shaky, so my results were not particularly noticeable, but I stuck with it and got myself into better shape.
I decided I was finally ready for P90X, which I started on April 14, 2008. I am four weeks into it now (5/8/08) and am loving it! There are certainly some difficult moves in it, but overall I can do almost every workout, with a few modifications here and there. I am looking forward to seeing the results of this 90-day series. I am following the eating plan, too, which I'm sure will help enormously! I'll keep my progress posted. I look at every workout as a workout closer to my goal - and, more importantly, one workout closer to a healthier, longer life! Thanks Tony for the great program!
