Hi! My name is Amanda and I am happily married for 2 years to my high
school sweetheart Scott Shoup (screen name: sshoup). I have been a member
of Team Beachbody for over a year, but have just recently decided to get
serious about my health and fitness! Scott and I bought the Turbo Jam
program to get in shape for our wedding in Jamaica. Scott ended up losing
50 pounds for our wedding and I only ended up losing about 7. I followed
the program for a few weeks and then fell off the wagon, like I have many
times before. The stress at school and lack of time were my excuses, I have
realized though, that my downfall was only my own lack of will and
commitment. Soon my 3 meals a day diet of convenient fast food, soda and
vending machine snacks contributed to my highest weight ever. My husband
lost a total of 75 pounds with Turbo Jam and P90X and has gained 10 pounds
of muscle. He won a total of $60,000 last year for his successful
transformation story for best in his age group for August 2007 as well as best
in his age group for all of 2007. All his publicity and recognition from family,
friends, and complete strangers naturally drew some attention to me too. I
started to feel more like a failure than ever standing beside my wonderful
husband who now looked better than ever and was more fit than he had ever
been before. I saw all of the fun he was having in his new life and I couldn’t
participate in the same fun activities that he was enjoying. August 1, 2008
was the date that I set to make a change. I will be starting nursing classes
September 2008 and I want to be fit and feel great so that I can be the best
me that I can be. I want to be healthy and happy and be around to share a
beautiful life with my husband and have a family in the future. It has been a
month and I have lost 17! I am excited about my ultimate goal of losing 60-
70 pounds. My motto is “one at a time.” If I just follow my motto then I will
succeed; one meal, workout, day, week, month at a time. Each time I am
tempted by the wrong food, or think that I may not work out that day, or
stop my workout early I think of the words that Chalene Johnson has said
“What I want more is”, and the answer is that I want to succeed, and day by
day, month by month I will!
