Wife to a brillant engineer, whom I adore. He's my rock!

I read a lot. And I try to do yoga as often as I can, as it helps my focus, and calms me. I love Yoga X!

I've always considered fitness and nutrition important, just not always a high “priority”. In the past, my workout schedule commitment was sporadic. I'd do well for a couple of months, and then my motivation would drop, usually with my focus changing due to an old back injury flaring up, family focus, job related, or yes, I'll admit it- even giving myself permission to work out!

In May 2008, I ended up in the hospital for four days. I'd been on various medications for intestinal challenges, acid reflux, my blood pressure readings were ranging in the "red zone" hypertensive, among other things. My weight had ballooned, and I had been fighting depression.

My husband and I started P90X June 1st, 2008, and to be honest, it was really hard. While I loved the routines, I would still miss many workouts. I liked that I could modify the moves to suit my level. I tried my best to stick with it. I also liked how I was feeling about myself. Overall, I struggled to commit to the nutrition plan. I need variety in my diet. But, at day 90, I couldn't believe the results I saw in the mirror. My before and after photos were motivation for me to really stay focused for round 2, then round 3, 4 and I’m happy to say, I’m still “bringing it”. My blood pressure has lowered, my cholestrol has been fantastic (thanks to Shakeology too) :-), I have no more back pain, and I feel awesome. My self esteem is higher than it ever has been, I feel good, I look good, and my confidence has increased!

I finished my first triathlon in October 2009 (in 34 degree weather- yes the bike ride was cold, but I was prepared), and felt so incredible that I was in shape enough to perform in such an event. I even overcame an "on the spot" fear I had during the event (my heart rate was already speeding, and I had only trained in a 5 ft deep pool, so the 15 feet of water I suddenly found myself in was quite challenging). But, I overcame the fear, performed well, and was SO PROUD of myself for what I had achieved. A lot of planning went into training, nutrition, and mental focus- I learned I had to get out of my own way. I've always believed in "set your mind, and you can accomplish anything", but as often happens, my inconsistency was linked to giving myself permission that I actually deserve to be in the best shape of my life, I deserve to be happy, and once I get out of my own way- there are no more limits!!!

I am now training for two triathlons this year, and customized my training schedule to include workouts from P90X, P90X+, Turbo Jam, and 10 minute trainer. I'm so focused on my nutrition currently, getting lean and have dropped 6% more bodyfat, while maintaining strength, muscle, and endurance! 2010 is MY YEAR!!!!
