I'm an ex football player of about 20 years. I have always stayed reasonably fit, but have grown tired of the less then stellar results from the normal gym routine. After too many years behind the computer screen as a software development manager I am looking to make some drastic changes in hopes of some drastic results.

The beginning of my story is like many others. I finally decided enough was enough and change was needed. I had never really had a problem being fit as I played football for nearly 20 years. After my football career, I became a software developer. So, day in and day out I was sitting behind a desk. Over the next few years I started losing muscle and gaining fat. I tried to make sure I always spent at least a few days in the gym with a pretty basic routine. I would see progress, get burnt out and take a few months off. That was pretty much my routine over the last 5 or 6 years.

Then came P90X. It wasn’t an immediate decision to try the program as I had watched the infomercials for close to 2 years before finally taking the plunge. I had always been skeptical of home workout programs. After seeing another infomercial about April of 2009 I decided to do some research. Expecting to find less then stellar results I was glad to see what that the average person could do in 90 days if they followed the program exactly how it’s laid out. Basically eat right and crush play everyday.

As soon as I received the program I did the Fit Test. Wow. I had lost a ton of strength and endurance and the test proved it. Not to be discouraged as this was what I was used to with my previous routine of being in and out of the gym. I knew I just had follow the program and I would slowly get back on track. And, I did.

Through the fist 30 days I saw drastic improvement in my endurance and strength as well as my physique. Doing all those pull-ups / chin-ups really made a huge difference in the definition of my back muscles. I was feeling great and my body was visibly changing. This progress continued through next 30 days as well. Finally, I could see my abs again. The hard work was paying off and those around were seeing the changes as well. I have never seen this much change in my body in 60 days in my entire life, even though my football playing days!

The last 30 days were the toughest. I won’t lie, my body was really feeling worn down. But, I had a goal and I was going to do everything I could to make it. During the last part of the program I was lifting much more weight and doing almost 10 times the amount of pull-ups / chin-ups compared to the first day I started. I was very excited to take the Fit Test this time around as I knew how much I had improved. After taking the test I was very pleased to see that all that hard work paid off. I improved dramatically in every exercise and my body was looking even better then when I had played football!

P90X has become a way of life and I will continue using it to keep myself fit and looking great!
