Turning 30 this year. Have been on a roller coaster all my life going from being thin, beautiful, and fit to being extremely heavy, beautiful, and unhealthy. The last month or so, I finally got tired of my own whining, and decided to do something about it. I deserve to wear fabulous clothes. I deserve to not have to think about all the fun times I could have if only I was thinner. I deserve Turning 30 this year. I deserve to take care of myself. It really hit me hard when I saw a picture of myself, and when I got winded walking up a flight of stairs. They happened to occur on the same day. I didn't recognize myself in the picture, and I certainly didn't recognize the feeling of my own body. I finally realized that weight loss is a journey to be taken minute by minute at times. I got myself into this situation, and little by little, I was going to have to rely on myself to get out. It was nobody else's responsibility to get me thin, not my friends', family's or especially husband's. I would have to do it for me. So here I am, starting my journey again, hoping that this time it will be different. For the first time I realize that even if I lose 1 measly pound a week, next year at this time, it will be 52 lbs lighter. So, here we go.

Literally one minute at a time. It is supposed to be as simple as eat less than you expend. In the past, I was able to be very successful by working out, cutting out fast food, and generally being less of a couch potato. So here we go, I will lose this weight doing cardio for 45 minutes 5 days a week. (I am in nursing school and have clinicals 2 days a week, in which we usually walk an average of 3 to 4 miles on those days- so those will be my days off). I plan to work out before I sit down to watch tv (my biggest weakness right now). 10 of those minutes include going all out on my eliptical machine. I will also strength train on 3 days per week- 1 day upper, 1 day lower, and one day of core training. Finally, I will cut out fast food, except subway. And eat only from our low fat cookbooks. I will also write in a daily food log with calories counted. Hopefully this will work.....one day at a time.
