Wilmington, NC Hello everyone. I'm Rob, a 27 year old Mechanical Engineering Consultant in Wilmington, NC. I love surfing and fishing and just being by the sea in general. Palm trees, sand, and surf to me are just as important as oxygen. I'm originally from Greensboro NC, but I moved out here after college to satisfy my "island mentality", and haven't looked back.

I was always the skinny kid growing up. They called me "Rudy Rob" on the football team, but I think it was only because "Sticks" was taken. I managed to beef up a little bit in college with the help of some good training buddies and free access to a great gym, but 3 years of sitting behind a desk afterward softened me up pretty good! A steady diet of beer and hotwings didn't help either.. Earlier this year, I decided it was time for a change.
I stand before you, now, as a new man. I'm faster, stronger, and leaner than I've ever been (at least since the days of "Rudy Rob"). I've got more energy than I know what to do with, and I certainly don't mind taking my shirt off to log some beach time. Life is good. See my transformation story for the details.

After 3 years of "being a grownup", sitting behind a desk, and spending my weekends downing beer and hotwings, the washboard abs I'd worked so hard for in college had turned into something resembling a partially deflated truck tire. I couldn't believe that somehow I'd become a fat, skinny kid. My attempts at getting back into shape had only resulted in EPIC FAIL, and my multiple gym memberships were basically just like paying a "Fat Tax". I just couldn't seem to stay motivated enough to stick with anything.
Late last year, I started hearing about P90X. It was almost viral at first. Just whispers in gyms about some extreme workout program that was kicking people's butts and getting them ripped. I was intrigued, but skeptical. Eventually I found out about a friend who'd done the program with incredible results, so I talked to him and got a first hand account. Shortly there after, he became my Coach, I signed up at Beachbody and was on my way.
The workouts were grueling, but fun. I started to get kind of a sick pleasure from picking myself up off the ground after doing pushups to failure. It felt like Rocky vs. Apollo, refusing to give up! My numbers started to slowly climb, then skyrocket. Only able to manage 6 pullups at the start, soon I was doing reps of 12, then 20. 30 days in, "are those abs?" 60 days in, "yep, those are abs." 90 days, "holy crap! is this real!?"
The support was awesome. The message boards gave me motivation and accountability. Even on bad days when the last thing I wanted to do was workout, reading stories and talking to other people doing the same thing kept me going. Just having a set routine laid out for me was huge. It would have just been too easy to quit early if I was in charge.
So here I am today. I've put an inch on my biceps, tripled my pullup max, dropped 10% in body fat, and have no intention of slowing down. Thanks to everyone who's helped me along the way!
