While in the Army it was easy to keep in shape. The daily regimen always included muscle or cardio workouts. Once I retired after 23 years however, the regular workouts became a thing of the past. More ...
While in the Army it was easy to keep in shape. The daily regimen always included muscle or cardio workouts. Once I retired after 23 years however, the regular workouts became a thing of the past. During the first year of retirement, my body was still in decent shape. But in the following years I noticed decline in stamina, a general lack of energy and noticable weight gain. Within six years of retirememnt and not exercising I gain twenty five pounds of fat. I kept having to buy bigger and bigger clothes to cover and hide my weight gain. I would find myself breathing hard just bending over to tie my shoes. I was embarrassed to take off my shirt when anywhere outside of the house. After my doctor told me I had to start taking cholesterol medication, I became concerned. How could I let myself get to this condition? That's when I started to see the P90X system on tv. I also found that some co-workers were in the program. After talking with them and watching the commercials numerous times I knew I had to do something. I tried to workout on my own like I did in the Army, but it wasn't working. Lack of motivation, excuses, and a feeling that I was going nowhere left me with a sense of frustration. When I became afraid that my wife wouldn't look at me the same way anymore, or that my kids would be embarrassed by me and that that my health was starting to deteriorate, I finally made the decision to purchase the P90X program. Life is beginning to change already! I am totally committed to the nutrition and workout plan. I am bound and determined not to fail!
