In 2008, I made the decision to work towards being healthier. The reason for the decision? The dreaded "are you pregnant" question. I have never been pregnant nor have I had kids. At age 24, I knew it was unacceptable to be in the shape I was in.

It started when I got a sedentary job sitting at a computer all day. After going to the doctor for a check up, I weighed 185 pounds, 35 pounds heavier than I should have. I was mortified! My cholesterol was high, and I used to eat mainly a fast food diet. Even walking up a flight of stairs, or even fast walking from the car to the store made me huff and puff, embarrassed that I'd be out of breath after that. My mother had a TurboJam workout, and I ended up purchasing it (after researching it) just to see what the excitement was all about. I must admit, after reading about it, I was pumped up! I set my goals, laid out my eating plan, and made my mind up to get up at 6am and workout before work so I'd boost my metabolism all day like it said I would. So my journey started.

The first few workouts that I did, I literally cried in the middle of them. I kept mentally putting myself down and wondered how in the people in the video did them without being out of breath and sweating. I told myself I couldn't do it. It was really tough for the first two weeks. I modified EVERYTHING and didn't use weights. But, I did not give up. I kept it up, and after two weeks, I noticed that things were much easier. I actually could do more. I loved seeing the weight go down little by little and feeling my clothes fit so much better.

I ended up losing 20 pounds, lowering my cholesterol into a normal range, and ended up feeling so much better about myself. Now, I took the next step and became a coach so I could help others along the way. I also stepped outside my box became a Turbo Kick fitness instructor, something I thought I'd never be able to do. And I love it!

I am currently working on losing another 10 pounds in addition to being able to do a pull up. The transformation story continues...
