I was always a very active person. When I went to college I became even more active. My idea of a study break was to go running. I was in the best shape of my life when I graduated from college. My weight fluctuated between 120 and 125. I ran or rode my bike daily and many times I did both. Then I got married to a wonderful man, but he wasn't into either of those activities. I also I was always a very active person. I also started fixing larger meals because, hey I’m married and I am suppose to be cooking for someone else. Plus he was totally in awe of someone who cooked, since he grew up in a family where they ate out almost every meal. Well, since I was cooking, I would sit down and eat with him even when I really wasn't hungry. There came the first extra 10 pounds..... We bought a house, and then decided to start a family. I have three wonderful children. While I would love to tell you that the extra pounds came from my pregnancies, I can't. I was fortunate enough to be lighter after I delivered each of my children than when I became pregnant with them. So the blame is totally mine. I will say that three children, working and taking care of the home added to my stress eating. My husband was injured at work and went through two back surgeries, which left me taking care of everything on my own, which again added to my stress eating. During this time I started to suffer from insomnia and while I was sitting awake half the night, I snacked and snacked. A year ago, I sought out medical help, and was diagnosed with depression. I am now feeling better emotionally but physically it has all added up to 70 extra pounds and no muscle definition what so ever. This is the most I have ever weighed without being pregnant! My children are now 4, 6 and 8, and I have decided that it is time for mommy to take some time for herself. My weight really bothers me, and I know I would feel better and have more energy if I weren't carrying the extra pounds around. I don't really care for dance style workouts, so the set up of Power 90 really appealed to me when I happened to catch about 10 minutes of the infomercial. I placed my order and was totally pumped while I waited for the DVD's to arrive. I also really liked the idea of receiving different workouts along the way. So here we go, I am looking forward to getting back in shape and having the energy to keep up with 3 active children and getting back into my clothes that are just waiting for me in the closet.

Like so many others here, I saw the infomercial on TV. I caught about the last ten minutes of it, but it was enough for me to think it was the workout for me. There is a really good reason I am not a dancer, I just am not coordinated enough. So workouts that are more of a "dance style" just don't appeal to me. I spend more time trying to get the moves done than getting a workout. So the straight forward this is the move, do it, is my kind of exercise. I was very excited about starting when I recieved the disc in April of 2005. I can't remember how many weeks I was into the workout when I tore the tendon in my right ring finger taking off my pants after pushing play. You can imagine the teasing I got about that injury. The bad thing was, that I spent the next 12 weeks in a splint with my finger hyperextened to try to prevent it from drooping as it healed. Once I was released to work out again, I once more started pushing play. I did a few weeks, but couldn't seem to get motivated and it was pretty hit and miss on working out. Then I stopped all together and the discs just sat there collecting dust. About six months ago, I got motivated to start again. I did about 2 months of the 90 days when I has minor surgery and was sidelined for a month. Started to push play again and a month later dropped out. Every time I tried to get support from the message board, the people just seemed to drop away and I was by myself. Then in the beginning of October 2006, just before I was going to turn 40, I decided that I really needed to do something. I needed to be selfish and start taking care of me. So I started my own thread on the board, thinking if I was going to be the only one, it might as well be my own. I have been joined by a group of awesome people who I really connect with. I haven't missed a work out yet. In fact I have even worked out on my rest days, just because I am enjoying that energy that you GAIN from working out. I am feeling better emotionally and physically. I know I have a long way to go, but I am really feeling like this time around I can do this, because I am doing it for myself.
