Prior to Arizona my wife and I were in college in New York, my wife at Cornell and I was at St. Lawrence University. In college I was President of my fraternity (ATO) and a four year varsity letterman in Baseball. I was born in Toronto Ontario, but grew up in Brussels Belgium which is where I met my wife. It is also where I met my coach Dave Ward who was in my older brother's grade at the International School of Brussels. For the past ten years my professional life has been in financial services. Currently I am an investment sales manager with a major bank, and have been for the past 4 years. Prior to management I was a Financial Advisor with the same bank and two other brokerage firms. Basically my entire professional life has been in sales. Last year I completed one of my major personal goals which was get my Global MBA from Thunderbird. I completed this amazing program in 2 years while continuing to work. I have now completed another of my personal goals by getting my weight back down to my college baseball playing days. Thanks to P90X I have lost over 23 pounds. I have been sharing my success with others and am really looking forward to being a part of Team Beachbody and spreading the love to even more people so they can feel the same excitement and sense of accomplishment I now feel thanks to Tony! My transformation story is probably not very unique, but it is one that amazes me and I am very proud of. It all began with a Sunday morning Infomercial for P90X that as I watched I thought "what a great looking program." After seeing the commercial again a few times and hearing the stories from the actual customers I broke down and ordered the program. When it first arrived it did what most workout programs did in our house; it just sat in the office and stayed there for about a month or so. I honestly don’t remember why I finally busted out the program, but I do remember how excited I was once I completed the Chest and Back workout. I was so proud of myself for getting through the entire workout and for keeping up with Tony. The next morning I awoke early and moved on to Plyometrics. My excitement from the night before didn’t last long as I didn't even make it through the warm up before I quit. For the next 5 days I could barely move my arms because my chest, back and arms hurt so much from my first P90X workout. Needless to say I did not follow Tony’s advice to “keep pushing play” and P90X was quickly returned to the box. About 2 months later I was talking to one of my employees who started to tell me about this intense workout problem her daughter was doing called P90X. I of course shared that I had the same program at home, but neglected to tell her that I hadn't really done the program yet. Excitedly she proceeded to tell me about how cut her 13 year daughter was getting after just a few weeks of the program. At that moment something clicked and I thought "hmmm, if a 13 year can do this program then so can I." So I came home that night and busted out the program again. This time I actually paid attention to Tony’s advice, I started slow, and kept pushing play. I started out with the Lean Program. I thought this would be a good starting point since the Classic Program hurt so much after the first workout. Little did I know what I was in for. Banana to Boat? What? An hour and half of Yoga? Seriously? So at first I didn't follow the program exactly as written, but I was still getting results. Standing in front of the mirror wasn’t an uncomfortable experience. Instead it was exciting. I was officially hooked. I decided to Bring It! I kept pushing play. About half way through the Lean Program I decided to switch over to the Classic Program. I was so amazed by the results I was getting I felt ready to tackle the Classic Program again. I wasn’t disappointed. It hurt, it took dedication, but people were noticing my weight loss. Everyday somebody would ask me if I had lost weight. And each time they asked I just beamed. But I still was too embarrassed to tell people I was following an infomercial DVD program called P90X. Then through some random act of fate I ended playing golf with my brother's friend from high school Dave Ward. After our round of golf we asked Dave and his family to join us at my parent's house for dinner. Not long after we started eating the discussion turned to weight loss and exercise. I shared with Dave and Monica that I was following this incredible program that had just melted fat away. Little did I know that Monica was one of the early adopters and had been a Beachbody contest winner. After hearing and seeing her story and talking to her and Dave about Tony and how amazing he was I was again hooked. I attacked the program with even more drive and decided to stop skipping Yoga X. Fast forward nearly 6 months later. After about a month of bunching up my pants and looking like a kid who was playing dress up in his father’s closet I caved in and took 3 of my suits to the tailor. As I stood in front of the three way mirror the tailor commented on my obvious weight loss. He asked “what have you done to lose this much weight?” I answered quite simply “just been exercising.” His response was another turning point for me when he said “you’ve lost 2.5 inches off your waist. You must be doing more than just exercising.” I couldn’t believe it. I knew I had lost weight, but for the first time for it was quantified. Sure I had watched the scale drop from 190 to 185 to 175 to all of a sudden 170, but it didn’t seem real until that moment standing in front of a three way mirror being told I had to have my pants taken in 2.5 inches, have my jacket taken in 1 inch at each sleeve, and have buttons on my jackets moved. Not only that but when I went in to try the suits I was handed a slim fit shirt instead of a regular dress shirt. When the tailor was done I had spent over $300 on tailoring and it was the happiest I had ever been spending that kind of money! I now weigh 167 lbs. I am back to having none of my clothes fit properly including the suits I had tailored. I am more flexible than I have ever been. I can't say enough about this program and how it has changed me. I was amazed when I completed my MBA while working, but I am just as proud for having stuck with P90X. I always used to chuckle when people would talk about how their life changed when they lost weight. I don’t chuckle anymore. I nod my head and smile. I now understand what they mean. P90X has been transformational for me. I am attacking life now. I have started writing a book I have always wanted to write, I am volunteering at a local high school, I am hoping to start coaching high school baseball, and most importantly I have decided to become a Team Beachbody Coach. Thank you Team Beachbody and a special thank you to Tony Horton. You truly are changing this great nation of ours. | Please sign in to flag this as inappropriate.
