I learned to love fitness because my mother has exercised and maintained her fitness for as long as I could remember, she also taught me good eating habits, even though they went into hiding for a while. It's one of the greatest gifts she could give me, and I hope to pass it on to my children. When I was 19, I really began getting serious about fitness. I was an exercise science major in college, and worked at a gym as my college job. While there and through my studies, I learned a lot about exercise and nutrition (I don't like the word diet) I also embarked on a very strict training and nutrition regimen and completed a half-marathon. I was so proud, I looked great, felt great and thought I could concer the world. Then life happened. My relationship with my boyfriend became more serious and we married in 2004. During the beging of our marriage, I still ate well and exercised but not a much as before. Then nine months into our marriage, I became preganant. Our son, Logan was born in Feburary 2006. This was my first taste of being out of shape, and I didn't like it. About the time that he turned 9 months, i said "enough is enough, I want my body back." This is when I first discoved Beachbody. I saw the infomercial for Slim in 6 and decided I would do that. I did well for about 3 weeks and then a long time friend of mine said hey, lets start going back to the gym together! I was game, but I soon discoved that working out away from home with a little one was difficult. I had to pack him and me, find a sitter or drop him off at child care and he did not like that. I also felt guilty for taking more time away from him. So, my gym timed waned and unfortunately I did not return to Slim in 6. Around Logan's first b-day...SUPRISE...your pregnant again! I was terrified...and mad, I had just started to loose my baby weight and bam! I'm preganant again (I now know what causes that...lol) When my daughter London was born in November 2007, my son was only 20months old. She was delivered by C-section and had to be hospitalized for 2 weeks after her birth. After 2 exhausting weeks in the hospital, I brought her home and the real fun began. It is very difficut to care for 2 children under two (ask anyone who's done it), I was exhausted all of the time and had no time for anything but diapers, cleaning, kids and work. (Poor hubby, he was so neglected for those first few months!) I was running on quick food and LOTS of caffine. At my six week check-up I weighed 155lb! I was so disgusted with my self, but the nurses told me it would come off, so I pushed it to the back of my mind. Some of you may not think that sounds too horrible, but I'm only 5ft tall, so I felt like a cow. When London was 6 months old, the weight had not changed, but neither had my horrible eating habbits, and exercise had not made an apperance in my life again despite the best of intentions. (I have since learned that intentions are only for those who don't plan to do) I was growing more and more tiered and my cravings were becoming strange, so I decided to talk to my doctor. She ran a blood panel and I found that my hormones were WAY out of wack and that I was becoming more and more insulin resistant. This was leading to a condition called Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) which eventually turns into Metabolic Syndrome. I had watched a overweight friend of mine battle this since her teens, but she would only use medications, she would never eat right or exercise regularly. My doctor put me on Metformin, and I was not happy about this at all. After some extensive research, I found that a good nutrition plan and exercise could fix this. So I pulled out my Slim in 6 and got right to work. I did a round of that and then used some other at home workouts I had purchased and went to town. I drastically changed my eating habbits and completly gave up Coke, my former pick-me-up (sound familiar to anyone?) After 3 months of this, guess what? NO MORE METFORMIN! I had goten my body under control and no longer need extra help. Late one night I was flipping through the channels and saw it, the commerical for P90X, and I knew immediately that this was the program for me. It looked like the routines I used to do when I worked out so rigerously not so very long ago. I ordered it and have been going strong ever since. I'm a total finatic about it. I carry a food journal and my nutrition guide everywhere with me so that I constantly remind my self what I'm doing. I'm three weeks into the program, and even though it's extreamly though, I'm hagin with it. The best part is how much energy I now have even though my muscles are sore and I'm working very hard. My kids and I have so much fun playing now, I don't just take them outside and watch them. My husband is also interested in working out now, something her never wanted to do before. I can't thank Beachbody, Debbie and Tony enough. It has given me my life back and now I can enjoy my children so much more and I'm ready for what ever life throws my way. Check back in 9 weeks for my P90X transformation story.
