I have been overweight almost my entire life. I used to be obsessed with the numbers on the scale, but I finally get now that it's not about the number on the scale, but rather about making your body healthy inside and out. So my goal is to get my body back to a healthy weight and to feel good about myself again!

Hey there... My name is Brittany. :) This is the start of me trying to become a new person. All my life I have struggled with body image. Growing up in the South, I grew up in a family that fries everything and firmly believed in celebrating events with lots of food and drinks. I was always over indulging in everything I ate, and controlling myself in the face of temptation is still something I struggle with every day. It's a battle, but one I am more than willing to fight if it means being a healthier, happier person for myself and everyone around me. In late 2001, I met my future husband. At the time I was 145 pounds, living an active lifestyle and enjoying being young. All that came to an abrupt halt in 2002, when I had our oldest daughter and put on 50 pounds while pregnant with her. After I had her, I tried everything I could think of to take the weight off but nothing seemed to work. I was embarassed about being bigger than I ever had been in my life, and lost all desire to do things I used to do, like going out dancing with my friends, go for a walk, etc. I didn't want to leave the house. I found comfort in the same place I always had: food. My clothes were starting not to fit anymore, but I didn't realize how big I was getting until late 2003. My darkest day was when I went to the doctor and found out I weighed in at 238 pounds, which was almost double what I had weighed just two years earlier. After doing some tests, we found out that I had an almost inactive thyroid. I was put on medicine, and with some changes in my diet, I had finally started to make some progress. After about a year or so of this, my husband and I started trying to have another baby. It took forever, and my doctor informed me that it can be harder to conceive when you are overweight. After what seemed like an eternity, I found out I was pregnant in June of 2007. I managed to control my weight gain with my second daughter by using a diabetic diet in pregnancy, but after having Caitlyn, I gained back a lot of the weight I lost. When I met my husband I was a size 8; now I'm an 18. I've literally doubled in size! Something has to be done... I have decided it's time to make a change. I hate looking in the mirror and loathing what I see there. I want to feel good about me and how I look in my clothes. I want my daughters to be proud of their mommy and I want to be able to play with them in the playground and not get out of breath. I want my husband to be proud to tell people "That's my wife". But most importantly, because high blood pressure, heart disease, and diabetes run both sides of my family, I want to get healthy and cut my risk of leaving my family earlier than I should. I want to change myself completely, and the first step is to get healthy and feel good about myself. I discovered Turbo Jam after seeing an infomercial in the fall of 2008. I bought it and have been hooked ever since! While I haven't been using it every day since then, Turbo Jam is the workout I turn to when I need/want to lose weight and feel better about myself. When I first used the program in 2008 and 2009, I lost 20 pounds and then stopped when I hit a plateau. I used it sporadically for a while, and now I'm back on the program as of May 1, 2010, and have lost 35 pounds!! TRY IT- IT WORKS!!! You won't be disappointed!
