My name is Dave and I have been working out for about 20 years, mostly
jogging, mountain biking, and hiking, combined with sit-ups, push ups, and
using stairs wherever I can find them. I have done allot of cardio stuff on my
own. I have never really been able to get the ripped look I wanted even
though I was in good shape. Then one night I saw the Beachbody infomercial

jogging, mountain biking, and hiking, combined with sit-ups, push ups, and
using stairs wherever I can find them. I have done allot of cardio stuff on my
own. I have never really been able to get the ripped look I wanted even
though I was in good shape. Then one night I saw the Beachbody infomercial
on TV. I was amazed at the results people got in just 90 days. So I scrapped
together the money and bought P90X.
I have had one really big obstacle most of my life and that is type one
diabetes, I have had it for 31 years. I have had some really tuff times with
incapacitating insulin reactions and at times diabetic seizures which have
happened in my sleep and I think God for my wife who has saved my life
from them more then once. These happened from working out too much and
to hard and getting completely exhausted. Like biking 25 miles, jogging 10
miles with 25 sit-ups and 25 pushups every mile while on the track and all in
one day which I use to do 4 to 6 days a week. I have to balance diet and
exercise carefully everyday to feel good and stay healthy and it is a very
delicate balance at times. When I saw P90X on TV and bought it I knew it
would be demanding but the results looked great.
I really liked the nutrition plan and it is much like the diabetic exchange diet I
am on so it works out great for me. Along with taking daily insulin injections I
also take blood pressure meds, an aspirin, a multivitamin, along with lots of
water and sugar free recovery drinks, along with nutrition bars for snacks. My
kidneys are a bit weak which is a result of having diabetes for so long and yes
not taking care of myself as a teenager like I should have. So I have a pretty
full plate when it comes to reasons to workout and stay healthy. When I first
started P90X my legs were killing me. The diabetes causes poor circulation in
the legs and sucks the strength out of them. I kept up on the workouts and
took Tony’s advice on mini breaks. I then had some personal setbacks and a
back injury and had to stop my workouts for a while until I was better. The balance of diet and
exercise is working out even better then I imagined. I have now been able to
better dial in my insulin and food intake with improved blood sugar levels. I
no longer have the peaks and valleys I use to have, but only if I stick to the
diet and exercise plan that is laid out. Tony and Beachbody you guys are
awesome.
Every morning right when I get up I go down to my basement and log into
wowy and get started working out. Meeting people in a virtual gym is one of
the best things about Beachbody. It motivates me to get up and be an
inspiration to others who inspire me. The forums have been great too,
getting to know other people ask questions, and make friends, along with
setting future goals together. My coach is Joelo and he has been great and
always helps me out when I need him. Thanks Joe you’re awesome.
So everyday just push play and stick with the nutrition plan.
