I started slim in 6 eight weeks ago. I'm really happy with the results. Right now I'm doing P90 and loving it.

Transformation story

You know whenever I looked in the mirror I saw a big guy. I used to go to the gym a lot. I thought I was still in good shape. I liked being heavy so I could post up on the court. Recently I realized all that weight was not muscle any more; it was table muscle. My wife encouraged me to start Slim in 6 with her.

Since my wife's encouragement I've been getting up at early to exercise and also focus on some spiritual goals I have. I'm looking to make a total transformation! At first it was really hard to get out of bed. I just kept telling myself, keeping trying. Just get up and do it. After the 2 day fast I lost 5 lbs. That was encouraging. From there I was seeing steady weight loss. After the first 3 weeks I'd dropped 12 lbs! Awesome! Then I got bronchitis. What a bummer. I was sick for two weeks. I couldn't work out. I was depressed.

The week I got sick I had just started Burn it Up, the third DVD. I decided to start out on the second DVD. It took an extra week to get back to feeling good when I was exercising. Then I did the third DVD for 2 weeks. I felt like I wanted to go for 2 more weeks because I just hadn't reached my goal to lose 24 lbs. I kept pushing and after the eighth week of exercise I had exceeded my goal--I lost 28 lbs. That was Saturday (March 22, 2008). It's Monday March 24.

This morning I started my new goal, Power 90! It was awesome. I'm so excited to continue the body transformation. I can hardly wait to see what I look and feel like in 90 days. When I finish P90 I'm going to start P90X. X me baby! This journey for me has been so much more than getting a "beach body," although that is very nice. It's been about a life transformation. As I was reading the P90 book I just kept thinking, "I've got to make this change last a lifetime." I want to continue being active for life and encourage my wife and six kids to do the same.

8/13/08 - Time to check in. I finished the 90 days with P90 awhile ago. I lost an additional 8lbs. That was nice. But my chest, arms, and legs have grown. I am definitely stronger. I'm trying to make a life change now. It's one thing to lose weight (done that before). It's another to learn to live in a fast-food world and stay trim and fit.

I haven't advanced to P90X yet. Basically it comes down to cost. My work offers a discount on our insurance premium if we exercise and eat right. My plan is to use that as motivation to keep doing P90 until the end of the year. The money they give me back will be enough and then some to buy P90X. So I'll start it this coming January. That's a good goal. It is in line with my goal of life transformation not just losing weight for a time then putting it back on again.
