I guess my transformation story is in the making- I've been a smoker for 18 years, and decided, after losing my Dad to cancer (and he was a non-smoker), that I'd better quit or I could be setting my son up to grow up fatherless. I quit the butts on August 24th, 2008, and feel as though I have been given a new lease on life. I started hitting the gym, lifting weights, and running- WITHOUT coughing- I've lost 19 pounds in 2 months, and I feel AWESOME!!! I heard about the P90X program through a TV ad, then through a friend's wife, who happens to be a coach. I knew I was physically and mentally ready for a new challenge, so I jumped on board....

Tomorrow (6/12) I'll be finishing week 3 with Kempo X, and it's eXactly what my body needed!!! I can already see the transformation process in my abs, pecks, bi's and tri's, I feel it EVERYWHERE! It's a GOOD burn, if there is such a thing... that sense of accomplishment after pushing through the last set of pull-ups, or sweating hard, and I mean HARD, burning up my abs on # 25-28 of the mason twist...OUCH! YEAH! I've managed, though not nearly as often, to continue hitting the gym, purely for a bit of muscle toning and running, on Sunday mornings, and Tuesdays and Fridays after work. I've got the before pics (I'm embarrassed that I even let myself get to look the way I did), and I CAN'T WAIT to do the 90 day comparison....THANK YOU to my friend and Beachbody coach Lauren, and for your pushing me, Alison, as well as my workout buddies, and the Team of P90Xers for this phenomenal workout system! I'll continue my story at the end of week 8, until then-keep pushing play!

A quick update...I'm finishing up week 9, and I went back to compare photos of week 8 vs. week 1- if that's not inspiration to really push it these last 3 weeks, I don't know what is! The transformation is progressing; I'm seeing and feeling the difference, and I'm seeing the looks from friends I haven't seen in a while, and LOVING the fact that they're WOWing my arms, or my abs, and the weight loss. I'm feeling awesome, and my projected goals seem to be in line with my progress. My starting weight was 207 pounds. As of yesterday, I was at 183 pounds, and my projected goal was 180. I'll make it, maybe even beat it. All I can say is that this is the beginning of the new me, here to stay....looking forward to "insanity"... that's next. Until week 12, keep pushing play, baby!


Well, here goes round 2! I was absolutely thrilled with the results I got from round 1, and was planning to go into Insanity next, but I've reconsidered the next step in my course to a fit new me...
My first round of P90X was used as more of a weight loss program for me more than anything, and now that I've dropped the weight (and managed to put a bit back on with the holidays), I'm going to revisit P90X, classic version, but with a twist- I'll be hitting the gym for my cardio, and toning on the machines, and push it with the less reps and more weight during the program to build the muscle. I'm hoping that both routines don't burn me out, but if I need to, I'll scale back on the gym to keep with this program.So here goes, and I'll repost an update in 4 weeks!
