coal township, PA All set to turn 40 with about 40 extra pounds on board! That was me! Fast forward seven months and two rounds of P90X, mix in some P90x +, and now some One-On-One and I feel like a different person.
Flashback to July2009:
I am 39 (year old, father of two girls, and a chemist in the pharmaceutical industry. My first athletic love was distance trail-running, even ran a few 50-milers, some All set to turn 40 with about 40 extra pounds on board! That was me! Flashback to July2009:
I am 39 (year old, father of two girls, and a chemist in the pharmaceutical industry. My first athletic love was distance trail-running, even ran a few 50-milers, some marathons, etc. But apparently when your body gets used to doing only one thing it plateaus. Hmm...where have I heard that before? I ran alot, but while looking at pictures of myself taken last July I couldn't believe my eyes...I had gotten so heavy (just a tad over 200lbs) for my height (5'7")...YIKES! Who was that guy who needed a bra (almost)? ME, ME, ME!
But HOW? In hindsight the answer was crystal clear: because I ran so much I ate soo much! And all the wrong stuff! Its the same old pre-P90X story--pizza, wings, baked goods, extra helpings, pasta-pasta-pasta, buffet-feasting, to name a few.
Truth is, I was unhappy about my weight for years. I would not even look in mirrors or allow my picture to be taken. I just figured that was how I was built. I tried to be happy with it but could not. So when I saw those pictures of myself last year it was a real wake up call. I did not even recognize myself!
Thankfully someone I work with mentioned that she had just bought P90X, although admittedly I didn't even know what it was...never even heard of it. When she explained that it was a series of excercise videos I instantly tuned her out. I was a trail-runner! An outdoorsey kinda guy...above silly excercise DVDs. Then I saw the infomercial and was blown away. After I found myself watching it--and like 4000 YouTube videos--over and over I felt like I had nothing to lose--except fat.
So now fast forward to present day:
I don't know how much weight I lost because I didn't weigh myself before because I did not want to get wrapped up necessarily on losing weight but rather getting fit and strong. I do know I lost five inches from my waist, gained some abs, and a whole lot of self confidence. I can look in mirrors again! I actually run less but feel much better (especially on hills) and can go much farther.
I cannot express how these Beachbody products have changed my life (and how I feel) for the better. I know how and what to eat and what it takes to be truly fit for the first time in my life. Food is NOT the reward. This is not a fad but truly my new way of life. Now I can't get enough, can't stop continuously trying to push myself. It's been the best and hardest year of my life!
