I am 43 years old. I was thin (110 lbs) and athletic in high school and I gained about 20 lbs after 3 children. In my 30's; between stress (I'm a stress eater) and an abusive relationship and one more child, I gained 60-70 MORE pounds. Four years ago I divorced my abusive husband and lost about 30 pounds. This is the second time I've started P90X....I'm serious this time. My eating habits have been horrible and did not support the work out efforts -- if you don't change your eating habits, you may as well forget it. I've started a food diary which includes my work out routines. This has been the key for me.... you won't put it in your mouth if you are going to have to write it down! This may sound strange, but I've also had a major revelation..... I'm a skinny girl in a fat body! I was thin and athletic for more years than I've been fat. What has happened to me is I have not realized how big I've become. I knew that I was heavier than before, and the weight numbers are much higher, but I haven't seen myself as fat. I still saw myself as thin. I know that this is the opposite of what most people have trouble with. I didn't recognize the severity of my weight problem and always shrugged it off as a minor problem..... Well now I've "seen the light"......And thanks to the support of my coach and P90X, I'm on the road to fitness!
