I have struggled with weight my entire life, despite overall being an active person. I went on my first diet in my teens and started excercising intensely and lost weight. Slowly over the years I put it back on little by little by little. At age 23 after completing college, I weighed 205. I got married that year, and started back to the gym. Over the next 2 years from regular aerobics classes 6 days per week, my weight was down to the 160's. Slowly, I got busier with with life and have continued to put weight on every year since around 2001. I was still going to the gym, but not inconsistently, and I wasn't taking aerobics classes so much anymore or doing any strength training. In January 2006, I hit my peak weight of 228 and decided to do something about the weight once and for all. I was starting to have problems with high BP, and I left work one day in Feb 2006 with a BP of 200/110 resulting in my having to start being medicated. I was disappointed because I had already started eating healthier and excercizing and was down about 8 lbs. By the time April 2006 rolled around, I was down about 20lbs. I went on the Bare Escentuals Customer appreciation cruise around that time and remember sittling with my friend Tiffany who is another huge health and fitness success story. She had just started taking Chalene's turbo kick classes at the gym. Because of her enthusiasm for the classes, I was really looking forward to getting the turbo jam dvd's that spring and could hardly wait for their arrival. I now own the entire series, attended both turbo camps in 2006 and 2007, and became certified as a turbo kick instructor as a personal goal in April 2007. I've lost and maintained a 45 lb weight loss to date, with the goal of losing about 30 more lbs this year. Whether I'm losing weight or not all depends on how good my diet is, and is always a work in progress for me. I am fairly consistent with turbo, however and know that it is something I will stick with for life. My weight loss strategy has been that I lose about 10 lbs, and then maintain that weight for several months. Then, I get motivated to lose 10 more. Also, I am down from a size 16 to a size 10. I know that my consistency with turbo has a lifestyle change that has kept me from gaining weight during those times when my eating is not so good! I will lose 30 more lbs in 2008!
