To give you a little background...I was raised in a very loving 'food-friendly' home. My mom is an amazing cook...even to this day! She ROCKS to be perfectly honest!! She made amazing meals which, over the course of my high school and college years, proved to add about 40 extra pounds to my bottom line! In an attempt to stay active and lose the extra weight in high school...I was involved in track (disc & shot put), softball, and volleyball. After high school, and into my college years, I joined a gym...began taking aerobics and spinning classes...lifting weights, etc. No matter what my activity level, I never seemed to lose the weight. My love for food was certainly not doing me any favors either. Frustrated, and a little naive, I decided to get a personal trainer and follow his diet recommendations. I followed his advice for about a month and had incredible results, however, the diet proved unrealistically strict and unmanageable for the average person. I became almost too lean due to the absence of fat in my diet. As many of you know, we all need some healthy fat intake...especially us women. So, after about a month, I decided I was capable of managing my diet and exercise routine on my own. I quickly became frustrated with how to handle my diet. At this point I only knew of two ways of eating....my old way (pizza, pasta, fast foods....a basic carb-fest, if you will) and my trainer's way. Needless to say, I was overwhelmed. I didn't want to lose the results I had achieved with my trainer, however, it was an unsustainable program. My next attempt at losing weight came in the form of a nutritionist. He had all kinds of fancy equipment to measure body mass, water weight and fat percentages. His program identified the number of portions from each food group you should consume every day. I lasted a few months...completed his program successfully by losing my desired weight...and going on my merry way. As you may have guessed, I fell back into old patterns....eating the wrong foods...eating too much...and not exercising properly. Fast-forward to 2001...finding myself engaged to a wonderful man and planning a wedding! Yay....such a joyous time! My immediate focus was losing weight...I vowed not to be chubby in my wedding pictures. So, I followed Weight Watchers with much success...counting my points and losing the weight for our big day. But, the program fizzled out after the wedding...falling, once again, into old familiar patterns. My sites were not set on the long term...I was simply focused on looking thin for our wedding. A few years had passed...I settled into married life...getting all comfy and cozy. Eating too much of the wrong things and worst of all, not having any weight loss goals. After the wedding I really didn't think I had anything I needed to be thin for...what a fool I was! So, in an attempt to get back in the saddle....I tried to eat well during the week...and then foolishly going off the deep end on the weekends....allowing myself a 'free pass' if you will. The problem with that was, my weekends would go from Thursday to Sunday! The amount of leeway I allowed myself over the course of the weekend was never...and could never...be off-set by my eating properly only three days a week. To add insult to injury, I was only working out (moderately) 3-4 times a week. Again, not nearly enough. It occurred to me that the only constant, over my high school and college experience, was my short sightedness. I was only focusing on eating well or exercising for the vanity of it all. That's when the light went off...being thin and toned is all nice and good...but, the real purpose of eating well and consistently exercising is to be healthy on the inside...reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, etc. The list of diseases attributed to obesity are astounding. It was at that moment I decided to stop making excuses and to make a permanent change for the better...a lifestyle change! No more fad diets and unrealistic short term exercise programs. I wanted more...more for myself...my well being...my future...and the future of my family! After cleaning up my diet through Weight Watchers and walking six days a week for approximately 45 minutes...I lost 20 pounds! I finally felt in control of my weight, my health and my life! This was the time for a new challenge...a challenge that would bring me a sense of accomplishment...that challenge came in the form of P90X! There is a bit more to my journey...check out my Transformation Story for the rest.... My Progress My fitness goal: Get Healthy Transformation story

My journey with Beachbody....specifically with P90X, began June 2009. This was the point when I finally decided to stop making excuses. I wanted to make a permanent change for the better...something that would allow me to live a healthy happier lifestyle. My decision was to accept the challenge of P90X!! To say that P90X intimidated me is an enormous understatement. Years ago, I had attempted Power90 with no success....if memory serves me correctly...I didn't even make it past day three! However, being a bit more physically prepared at this point and having lost approximately 20 pounds prior to starting P90X, I felt up to the challenge. I finally felt healthy and in control of my diet and exercise routine...but something was missing. That something was P90X! I wanted a program that would be challenging...give me incredible results...and be sustainable. P90X, hands down, delivered!! This program made all the difference in the world! P90X, and the genius that is Tony Horton, provide what is promised! All the guess work is eliminated...ya just gotta keep pushing play!! Now, don't get me wrong....P90X is not easy by any stretch....however, the one thing that I've learned through this journey is that optimum health and well-being is not only achievable....it's worth it! I began my first round with the Lean version of P90X. My results were undeniable! I was shocked at how my body transformed. I did not lose any more weight...but, my entire body shifted proportionately. The love handles/muffin top disappeared and my legs became lean and toned. Without even thinking about it...my problem areas were a thing of the past! Now, for all you ladies out there...you know the struggle we have with the good old saddle bag situation...ugh! Of all the years I wasted doing leg lifts, in an attempt to spot reduce that unsightly fat...all I can say is...Tony Horton is a miracle worker!! The P90X program is so incredibly well-rounded that it targets your worst problem areas and makes them all nice and pretty ! :) After my first round (Lean) I decided to hit Classic with full force! Not a day went by when I was bored! The feeling I experienced after each workout proved more and more addicting with each passing day...so much so, that I am currently in my 5th round of P90X! Now, given the time commitment and my desired results...after completing Lean & Classic in their entirety...I now alternate between the two maintenance versions of the program. I have maintained my strength and results and have never, in my entire life, felt healthier...stronger...or happier! My love of the program has brought me here today. My desire to help others realize their full potential and the reality of personal wellness...overall spectacular health...and a longer happier life is my driving force. I want others to know it's possible...it's manageable...and above all else...it's completely, totally and utterly worth it! Thank you for taking the time to read about my journey...it's still in the making...so stay tuned! Peace~ Programs Meal plan: Your current meal plan is: Low-Carb Express at 1300 calories.
