My story dates back to 1999, I was in decent shape. I was going to the gym, eating ok. My weight was hovering about 194lbs. In early 1999, I met the woman of my dreams. Shortly thereafter, we were married. We had so much going on in the first year of marriage. We sold a house, bought a house. Sold a car bought a car. We both changed jobs. Life was moving fast forward and crazy.

As the years went on the need to get more done in less time meant skipping the gym every now and then. Fast food and eating out every meal was the norm. We were busy.

Fast forward to 2009, my wife and daughter were planning a trip to Disney World. As I started to pack, I realized that none of my pants would fit. I was devastated. How could this be? I went on a shopping trip to buy more clothes for the trip. This only made things worse. I discovered that the reason my 40s were not fitting well is that I was now a 42, and weighing in at 233lbs. What, I was in shock. I was not a fun person to be around during this time. How did I let myself get to this point? How could I fix the problem I was now faced with?

We made the trip to Disney World. I told myself I would enjoy the trip, eat what I want and get committed to a program when I get home.

In 2008, I had purchased the Beachbody P90X program. I think initially all I ever did was just watch the videos while I sat on the couch. (Note: They work much better when you participate.)

I started the P90X program full force in Jan of 2009, I did just what they said to do, and I never missed a work out. I changed my way of eating. (For the record, I believe a diet is something you do for a short time then go back to your bad ways) I made an eating lifestyle change. Quickly I started seeing results. This motivated me to push myself harder and harder. I became fanatical. I had P90X on the brain. It was all I could think about, how soon before my next workout.

I always thought the before and after photos I saw in the magazines and online were a scam. Now as I look at my own before and after photos, I am still in shock. I remember the day I stepped on the scale I had reached my low, 193lbs. I walked up to my wife and said "Look at this; you have never seen me at this weight". My weight currently hovers around 180/185lbs. and I have had to buy pants again, twice. This time they were much smaller than before. I maintain a 32" waist. I am so happy with the results and people noticing my success I made the decision to become a coach. Helping others is a great feeling.

This journey was not easy, it did not happen overnight. However, I believe that everyone who wants this type of success can reach it. You just need to make the commitment and stick to it.
