Orlando, FL Back in November 2002, I went to the doctor for a physical since I had not gotten one in two years. When the doctor was listening to my heart, I noticed the doctor had a concerned look on his face. That day I had an EKG and echo done. I also went home with a 24 hr. holter monitor. My doctor told me that I had bijeminy. That's when the heart literally skips a beat. When the doctor was listening to my heart, I noticed the doctor had a concerned look on his face. That day I had an EKG and echo done. I also went home with a 24 hr. holter monitor. My doctor told me that I had bijeminy. That's when the heart literally skips a beat. He asked me so many questions like if I did recreational drugs, smoked, drank or was taking any diet pills. The answer was no except I had taken diet pills two or three times, but the doctor said that was not enough to cause my heart problem. He referred me to a cardiologist where I had a stress test done. The cardiologist told me that I was suffering from cardiomyopathy. Needless to say I was concerned. I was too young to have heart problems. I was only 33 years old. People have heart transplants because of this. At this point, I begin to take medication for my heart. All I wanted at this time was to see my children grow up. My daughter was six years old and my son was two years old. I actually started thinking about how it would affect my children if I were to die at a young age. The doctor even told me that if I wanted to have more children to go ahead and get pregnant because I would be considered high risk, but at least I had my age working for me. My husband and I decided that we would not have any more children because we were already blessed with two.
Then in 2005, my family and I moved to Orlando. I had to find a primary physician and cardiologist, and I did. This was a time in my life when I was growing even closer in my relationship with God and just like He can do only, He cured my heart. I no longer had a weak heart muscle. My heart would still skip a beat but I was told that was not a health risk.
During this entire time, I was overweight. I decided to start doing something about it. I followed the six week body makeover meal plan. I had followed it along with the firm exercises for six week during the summer of 2003. I had lost about 13 lbs., but I did not continue it. So here I was trying it again and I lost some weight. Then in 2008, I began P90X after seeing the results my brother achieved with the program. I did a four week bootcamp to prepare to do P90X. When the holidays came around, I gave in to all the food and stopped working out. I had lost 23 lbs. In 2009, I began again, but was not consistent at all. I struggled with myself everyday. Then I injured my right shoulder. I had to do therapy and rather than keep pushing play with some sort of exercise, I stopped all together.
So here I am determine to get it right this time around. Unfortunately, a good amount of the weight I lost I gained back. What I have noticed is that my heart started skipping a beat after gaining weight again. I realized that when I did P90X the first time around that had stopped. When I work out regularly, my heart does not skip a beat. Exercise has to be a part of my life every day.
I struggle with eating right and exercising every day, but I take one day at a time. I also have made friends that inspire me to be my best. I'm learning from their journey. I want to be that inspiration to others. That's why I have become an independent beachbody coach. I want to help others to a healthier lifestyle. So join me on this journey. Together we can do it.

05/18/12 Today I am wearing a pair of capri pants that I have not worn for some time because they were tight on me, but today they feel just right.
