My Progress My fitness goal: Lose Weight
Transformation story
I lost 25 pounds (from 173# to 148#) and a total of 25 inches (-5" chest, -2" each upper arm, -4" waist, -6" hips, and -2" off each thigh) using the Hip Hop Abs Program in the first 90 days. The More ...
I lost 25 pounds (from 173# to 148#) and a total of 25 inches (-5" chest, -2" each upper arm, -4" waist, -6" hips, and -2" off each thigh) using the Hip Hop Abs Program in the first 90 days. The amazing part of this isn't that I look better, or went from a size 14/16 to a size 6/8 (depending on the brand), it is the fact that my primary doctor and my cardiologist are both so impressed with my transformation.
I have a disease called Valley Fever which devastates the lungs and disseminates throughout the body (joints, bones, brain). It can be fatal. And it has worn me down--or it did (past tense) with lots of hospitalization, bedrest and treatment. Just one year ago I was hospitalized and put on bedrest for a month.
When I started Beachbody on May 6, 2008 I was on five lung medications (two inhalers/two nebulizer medications and one tablet), a medication for the Valley Fever, and heart medication to keep the arteries to the heart open. I also have a condition in which my arteries spasm, clamp shut and cut off the flow of blood to heart. Now, I am on NONE of the lung medications, and the cardiologist just took me completely off my heart medication. My doctor says my heart and lungs sound better than they have in two years. The cardiologist said my exercise program has reversed the lung damage and is also strenghtening and opening up the arteries. What I have spent for my Bodybeach membership and my initial Hip Hop Ab DVDs--I've more than saved double, triple, quadruple by not having to expend on co- pays for medication and frequent visits to the doctor.
Now, due to INSANITY, I am the best shape of my entire life--stronger, more flexibility, increased cardio capability, and an overall improvement in my life.
I want to help others do the same through consistent exercise and focused nutrition. I am so thrilled at my results I want to make the same happen for others, so they can not only look but feel better, and live better. God has given us amazing bodies, and even after years of abuse (over eating, not exercising fully, etc.) our bodies still respond wonderfully once we start treating them right. It is amazing...so why not. We all have the ability.
Starting out at 173 pounds I never thought I would make it down to see 140- anything on the scales, but now I am not focused on the scale and weight, just staying fit. I know I can do it. I am not "dieting" but making healthy/clean food choices. I also eat a good breakfast and sensible lunch and dinner now is very light (practically a snack)and I am sticking to the 3 hours before bedtime rule. (It works). I don't let myself get shaky hungry.
I am loving the way I feel and the compliments I am getting. Yes! People are noticing--when I am doing my walk/run at the park, at work, when I am shopping, when I am in a restaurant--and I am more than happy to let people know how I got this way. I am loving the Hip Hop Abs system--it's definitely not only about Abs--it is total body and perfect for me.
At age 50, I am not out to set any records (even though I can now do "boy" push ups for the FIRST time in my life) or push myself into a muscle machine but I do want to look good and feel good. And I do now. I feel strong. I feel vibrant. I feel tight and toned. Thank you Shaun T, everyone at Beachbody, and all my Beachbody support people!
