Though I have rarely struggled with my weight, I have not always had the healthiest habits. I've had an active lifestyle throughout my adult life, but it wasn't until I was in graduate school that structured fitness became an everyday thing. The campus fitness center offered a kickboxing class that turned out to be Chalene Johnson's Turbo Kick and I loved it! It felt good doing working out so hard. Around the same time, I made my first Beachbody order, trying out Slim Series and 10 Minute Trainer. These programs were a good balance with the classes I was taking. Turbo Jam was released around the time that I graduated and I ordered it right away. I soon realized it was very similar to the live class I had been taking and found out that I could get certified to be an instructor myself. After a year or so of doing Turbo Jam and then Hip Hop Abs, there was a Turbo Kick training in my town. I went for it, and have been loving teaching group fitness classes ever since!

I didn't stop there. Health and fitness had become my calling. I enrolled in nutrition classes at my local community college as well as the personal fitness training program. I passed the NSCA Certified Personal Trainer exam in May 2009, and continue to search out health and fitness knowledge that I can pass on to group fitness participants and training clients.

When my son was born in September 2009, my life was turned upside down (in a good way despite the lack of sleep!). Once recovered, I knew I wanted to work toward being as fit as I was prepregnancy, perhaps fitter. It is a struggle at times juggling the demands of being a new mother, a wife, and my own personal needs, but health is always a priority. In addition to teaching fitness classes 5 days per week, I am currently using ChaLEAN Extreme to add in some needed resistance training and am using Shakeology to help keep my nutrition on track. As always, I am a work in progress and have some work to do to meet my goals, but know I will get there with continued hard work and dedication.
