Boulder, CO Ten weeks ago I was diagnosed with asthma - it showed up out of nowhere. Eight weeks ago I had a rather serious road bike crash which has kept me out of any cardio exercise ever since. I celebrated my 40 birthday on September 1st,and then I got married on the 8th - to a man almost 6 years younger than me! Talk about a lot going on in my life in a very short time period! (And those are only the parts I'm sharing with you!) Needless to say I've had a little bit of stress in my life lately.
I first saw the P90X infomercial the night before my bike crash. I thought at least I could get 5 weeks in before the wedding, but I was concerned about spending any extra $ at the time. So I slept on it. Interestingly, the next day I was in a world of pain - road rash, bruises, and packed in ice.
While I'm petite and already in pretty good shape, it's very important to me to feel AWESOME about myself, and know that my husband only has eyes for me! Plus, I have an 11 year old daughter to whom I want to be the model of fitness and how to treat your body - inside and out. I hope she grows up knowing the importance of taking excellent care of herself, and how much one's health affects one's mind and attitudes, as well!
I have followed the weight lifting portion of the Body for Life program for 6 years now. The weights alone really did transform my body. I didn't drop any weight - I just repositioned it! However, after 6 years of the same routine, I REALLY need something new and challenging! I want to get ripped again. But I also really want to be strong in many DIFFERENT forms of exercise. For this reason I'm hugely drawn to P90x. It seems to have an incredible variety of workouts. I know from experience that I can follow through on an exercise program, and I am SO excited about the challenge of P90X! I love the feeling of attempting and accomplishing something so intense! And I know I am going to feel like a million bucks, which will be good for both me, my daughter, and definitely my new husband!
Speaking of eating.... I LOVE to eat. My only eating disorder is that once I start, I can't stop thinking about it the rest of the day. Though I actually eat healthy overall (very little processed food, eat fruits & veggies, watch my caloric and fat intake), I also have a HUGE sweet tooth! I am truly addicted to sugar, and feel AWFUL about my lack of self-control. I only followed the Body for Life nutrition plan for 1 week. So, I am quite uncertain about how I will handle the nutritional side of P90X, or if I will even endeavor to follow it at all! I will wait til I get my package in the mail, read about it, and decide then what I'm up for.
So there are my strengths and weaknesses. Seems you just can't have one without the other!
