After popping out three babies in four years, I joined a 10 week program at a small gym to lose 10 pounds. It had a good combination of cardio, core, scupting, etc. I was also given a nutrition plan, which is the first time I really changed my way of eating. I could not believe how my body responded to the classes/diet in such a short time. In less than six weeks, I went from a siZe 6 misses to a size 0-3 juniors! It was shocking. For the first time in my life, I was no longer pear shaped. And for the first time in my life, I could look at my butt and feel like I looked good in a pair of jeans. Amazingly, i didn't have to do any running or exercises that were hard on my joints. Another thing that happened that had never happened in all my years of exercising is that I felt strong! I could do things I have never been able to do, like do a man push-up. Suddenly, I could do 30 with no problem. I was hooked on lifting weights and scultping and I loved watching my muscles take shape. That was two years ago. I have maintained most of it. Although keeping up with a good diet, its been a busy year with moving and other things that I wasn't exercising that much and I put on 8 pounds. Naturally, these 8 pounds have found their way to my butt, hips, and thighs. The down side of losing my initial weight and restructuring my body was that I lost my breasts along with the pant sizes. So now, I feel pressure (from myself)to have to always keep my bottom half very slim to keep in proportion to my upper half as we know that extra weight isn't going to go back to my boobs. My goals are to continue toning and getting my butt in the best shape ever! I want all my definition back and lose an inch on my hips in the process. Plus, I want to achieve the one last thing that I have never been able to do...a chin up. All my life I have strived for this...I was always the kid in gym class who excelled in everything but couldn't do a chin up. Four weeks ago, my brother gave me his p90x set. He let me borrow it because he is too busy. Well, he doesn't know yet that he is never getting them back because I LOVE them. I just started phase two today. I;ve been getting up every morning at 5 am to make sure I can get a workout in without any interruptions from my kids. I am also waiting for my chin-up bar to arrive in the mail...and when it does..look out!
Aug. 21, 2008: I just started phase three of p90x. I never took a before photo so the one posted is midway through phase two. I am getting muscle and tone in places I have never had before. My shoulders (especially in the last week)look fabulous! When I do my hair in the morning, I get a good glimpse at the muscles that are forming on my arms..amazing. I have also suddenly noticed muscular lines running down my thighs and I have even gotten a compliment on my calves. My loose skin on my stomach (from popping out the babies) is also firming up and doesn't sag as much. My bad knee has acted up (probably due to my Zumba class) so I no longer do plyo or kenpo. I have been supplementing with Slim in 6 Burn it up and my stomach is also leaner and my butt seems more firm since adding it. Excellent results. I really enjoy my quiet workout time in the morning, even though some mornings it is tough to get up. I still have fat pockets and cellulite on my thighs/hips so I am interested to see if these programs can tackle those areas as well. Overall, I love every minute of p90x and Slim in 6. I feel good physically and mentally.
April 2010: The last 1 1/2yr I have struggled with an injury that has prevented me from working out. Slowly getting back into mild exercise: started walking daily, which I couldn't even do. Can also do push -ups and pull-ups now. Slowly adding that into my workout. I have lost most of my strenth during this down time so I have to start from stratch. Ticks me off but I am determined to get back no matter how long it takes! Fortunately, I have not gained too much weight due to healthy eating but medication has put at least 6 pounds back on my frame. I am up about 7 pounds from my first workout in 2008.
