Growing up I was the always the skinny kid. In high school I ran cross country and distance events in track. After I graduated from high school I pretty much quit running and over the years put on weight. I went from 140 pounds or so in high school to my highest weight of 230 a few years after I was married. One day I as I walked past a window I caught a reflection of myself and was shocked by what I saw. I made a vow right there to drop the weight, and I was successful and got back down to around 190 pounds. I changed my diet and started running again. Within about a year completed my first marathon. I completed several marathons, and even a triathlon, but my weight continued to fluctuate, my diet was poor and I was never in the shape I thought I should be. And let’s face it, I was tired of my gut. I was tired of looking at it, and tired of feeling it there. I dabbled with working out off and on, continued to run, even worked out with personal trainers, but never got the results I was looking for. I usually stayed up pretty late munching on junk food at night and watched the P90X infomercial several times. What appealed to me about the program was that it was the only program that looked legit to me because they were honest about the fact that it took hard work and commitment to achieve your goals, not some gadget or 5 minutes a day. After doing some pretty thorough investigation of the program on my own I decided to take the plunge and purchase P90X and I have been going from there. I’ve completed several rounds of P90X, P90X Plus, Insanity and Tony Horton’s One on One series. It’s pretty cool to look in the mirror and actually see muscles and to even see that you have abs! The Beachbody programs come with complete nutrition guides to help you along the way, since nutrition is the key component to getting into the best shape possible. The Beachbody community is extremely supportive, and the message boards are a great place to meet people, get all of your physical and nutrition questions answered, and to support and encourage each other. The best part is, you can even make money while you’re getting into shape!
