When It's calm (and warm) I like to cruise around on the Waverunner and go tubing with the Washington DC monuments in the background. I'm a database administrator for an entertainment company. I love my job, but a lot of my time is spent sitting at a desk. At 46 I finally decided it was time to do something about health. I started with P90X in October 2008 and my life has a whole new direction. I'm easily in the best shape I've ever been thanks to Tony Horton and P90X and look forward to my workouts each day. My wife has always been fit with her daily workouts and my 2 sons, 11 and 19 keep me active with year round sports. I'm now focused on continuing to exercise and helping anyone else I can to stay motivated along the way. My Progress My fitness goal: Build Muscle Transformation story

My Motivation: It all came to a head in 2008. I was 46 years old and I looked at last year’s summer vacation pictures and was very disappointed with the soft mid section I accumulated over the past few years. Pictures don’t lie. In each of the last few softball seasons, I had had some sort of injury due to lack of fitness (calf, lower back, neck). Then in July, my wife was diagnosed with stage II breast cancer. I needed to be healthy and strong for her and for my 11 year old son. My wife had two surgeries before starting chemotherapy followed by radiation therapy. Treatment is draining and it’s been a long recovery but she has recently been declared cancer free. During her treatment, I was going to have a lot of time in the evenings, so I needed to do something productive with them. I knew I needed to get fit but didn’t know how or where to start. My co-worker started P90X and raved about it, so I ordered it and started in October 2008. Tony Horton was about my age when he filmed the program. If I could look half that good, I’d be very happy. Day 1: I made it about 25 minutes into the workout before I had to stop because I was nauseous. This re-enforced how much I needed this program. I pushed through the next day (Plyo) and kept pushing play. I repeated one of the lifting weeks so I could time my recovery week while I was on vacation. I ended up working out for 96 out of 97 days. I was committed. I saw what I thought was pretty good results, but not like some of the transformations I’ve seen on beachbody. I knew I wasn’t done. I took one week off and started Round 2 of P90X. I cut down to 6 days a week. I again saw improvement. I was gaining muscle and seeing definition in my arms and abs. I never had that before in my life. There was no stopping me now. During Round 3, I was working out 5 days a week. I was very happy with the results. I really start to see the progress around Day 75 of each round. I started to see advertisements for Insanity and wanted to replace the P90X Cardio with shorter, more intense interval training. I had already incorporated Interval X once a week into my workout. I’m finishing up my first round of Insanity. It was an adjustment at first getting used to Shaun T’s style. I owed everything to Tony so it was hard at first to change trainers. I’ve grown to like Shaun’s style and the routines and will be combining P90X and Insanity for my future workouts. Beachbody products and the beachbody community are a big part of my new healthy lifestyle and I couldn’t be happier. Gone are the injuries and the soft mid section. I’m healthy and happy for family and myself. Thanks Tony for showing me the way.
