My husband introduced me to P90X back in 2006 when we were preparing for our wedding. He saw an ad in Playboy for the X and wanted to give it a shot. So he started doing P90X while I was sticking with my own routine, which was another well known system you see on tv and in stores that involves a step :) Well after just 2 weeks I could tell I would have to step up my game if I wanted to keep up with his progress. We were working out the same days per week but he was showing progress already... and I wanted the same! So I immediately switched and started the Lean rotation of P90X, dropping my old program. I lost 17lbs on that first rotation and we both looked and felt fantastic at the wedding.

Well time passed and without a specific goal to push for I found myself just unmotivated to consistently stick with any sort of workout and my eating was back to a mess. In January of 2009 my husband and I went on vacation and took our motorcycles to a nearby racetrack for a little weekend fun. At the end of the weekend I was completely exhausted and had near-blisters on my body from pressure points where my leather suit had been rubbing me while I rode (you can see one on my belly in my before pic! EW!). The entire weekend I struggled with not even having the strength to finish a 20 minute session on the track. On the long 7 hour drive home, I decided that I'd had ENOUGH! I was the most unhealthy I had been in my life and I just FELT miserable.

So I decided to go back to what I knew worked, and that was consistent exercise and clean eating. And I knew that P90X had both of those, so on January 8, 2009 I started my healthy for life journey. It wasn't about looking a certain way for a certain event anymore, it was about taking care of my body for the long haul. I mean let's be honest, you can delegate most of your life away but you can't get anyone to work out for you!

I had fantastic results with that early 2009 round of P90X, losing 4 1/2" off my waist alone! I continued with Tony's One-on-One and Chalene's Turbo Jam, creating my own routines to maintain my gains from the X. This January, I decided to give Insanity a shot and absolutely loved the challenge. I finished Insanity in late March 2010 and had more great results. I am now the smallest I have been in over 14 years!

I am in maintenance mode at the moment, creating my own schedule from my library of Beachbody's amazing products until we return from our vacation at the beginning of May. Once we get back my plan is to complete a round of P90X/Insanity hybrid routine and I can't wait to see how this next step in my journey plays out.
