I finally decided to get serious about losing weight and getting myself back into shape late in 2010. I have 2 young children and am very happily married, and I would like to be around for alot of years to enjoy my life with them. Maxing out at 283 lbs in early 2010, I started out walking and running on the treadmill. I started slow, walking at a quick pace for 20 to 30 minutes, and slowly built up to running on the treadmill for 20-30 minutes. This helped me trim down to about 270 lbs by the end of 2011.
In early 2011 I started training for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5K. I planned to run in the race, but was not able to reach my goal to be ready to run that far in time for the race in May 2011. The training did help me to drop my weight down to about 260 lbs by the end of April 2011.
In mid-April 2011, I decided to start P90X. I worked hard through the program. It helped me to increase my strength, build my stamina, and I also dropped my weight to about 250 lbs by the end of June 2011 when I finished the program.
I took a break for July, and started INSANITY on 8/15/2011. The first 4 weeks have been really tough. I'm seeing great results so far. I've lost about 6-8 pounds already and can see pretty significant development in my body.
Right now I'm focused on finishing the INSANITY program over the next 5 weeks. Once I'm done, I'm planning to take a break and re-evaluate where I'm at with my fitness level. I will decide whether I want to repeat the INSANITY program, or if I want to add some of the other INSANITY programs to my routine, or if I want to do something completely different.
My ultimate goal is to reach my target weight of 195 lbs, with less than 15% body fat.
Once I reach my fitness goals, I want to complete a Tough Mudder race.
My Progress My fitness goal: Lose Weight
