I've always felt that if you've never felt victory, then losing isn't so tough. But, if you've built yourself up as a winner, the fall from the top is a lot harder. Since I was a kid I played sports and kept myself in great shape. That's of course until I got to college. Between work and school I never had much time to work out. I was even amazed that I made it through the 10 weeks of Marine Officer Candidate School my senior year of college considering the bad shape I was in before I went. But the competitive fire in me kept me going. After graduating from Officer Candidate School, I was definitely in the best shape of my life, but I still had to go back to school for one more semester. It was in those last four months that I let myself slip and fall from the top, and it was a LONG, hard fall.
I couldn't believe how far I had let myself go. Looking at myself in the mirror was a real "gut check". So I didn't hesitate to look for a solution.
One day, I came across the P90x infomercial and after hearing the testimonials I was convinced. The idea of "muscle confusion" made perfect since to me and I felt that its what I needed. It explained why all the lifting I did, day in and day out of the same routine, was not getting me any progress. I had no muscle definition AT ALL, and frankly I was getting bored with lifting weights. So I went online and placed my order. One week later, I was ready to rock and roll.
I still remember day one like it was yesterday. I dove right into the workout like I was already in good shape and I paid for it BIG TIME. But my body, and Tony Horton never let me quit. His words throughout the workout kept me motivated when I would have otherwise quit. And when it was all over and done, I fell asleep on the spot where I finished my very last Mason Twist of the day.
When I woke up, I had an incredible feeling. A feeling of accomplishment that I knew I wanted to feel again. It was at that moment that I decided to commit, and succeed. I researched the supplements and found the orange flavored recovery drink, and now with the the meals I now prepare from the nutrition guide, I have no problem eating 5 to 6 meals a day now. 8 weeks into my P90X routine, I had turned my body into something I was SO proud of I couldn't help but show it off every chance I get. My friends and family are AMAZED to say the least, and I get phone calls and Facebook messages and emails EVERY SINGLE DAY from friends who want to know if P90X is for real and where I got it from, and even if they can BORROW it. And I tell them, "YES, its real, go get it, NOW!".
Being the guy who took the chance on a program that was relatively unknown about among college kids and spearheading a mini-P90X-movement around my area feels great. Those guys who sat back and said, "no, I'm not gonna take a chance", "I've seen the commercials and those are actors", "its a scam", "I'm gonna wait and see how it works out for Dale first, and then get it" are now saying, "WOW, I wish I had started this 90 days ago when Dale did". And it feels great to have people look at you and say "you've just made me want to change my life".
It feels good to be on top again, and the view from up here is great.
