My transformation story begins about 2 years ago. I was about to turn 40 and was tired and disgusted with the way I was living my life. I had let myself go in terms of my weight, diet and self esteem. As my 40th birthday was quickly approaching, I decided that I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. No more eating junk food every day of the week, no more fast food and no more being sedentary.

So, I started running on a regular basis and cleaned up my bad eating habits for the most part. I found myself falling in love with running and decided to train for my first 10K. I ran that without a hitch and decided to run a 10 mile trail race....that was an adventure in itself but I did it. After that I set my sights on training for a full marathon and as one of my training runs, I would run a 1/2 marathon. Everything was going well.......enjoying running, losing weight, decent eating habits and I was weight training 2-3 days a week. I had lost about 15 pounds and thought I was in the best shape of my life. I ran the 1/2 marathon on a very hilly course and was proud of myself for finishing it. As I started to train for the full marathon, I developed a hip injury as well as injuring my big toe which kept me from being able to run for several weeks. Obviously, without the proper training, I was unable to run the marathon. This was a huge disappointment and setback for me that as the days/weeks went on, my running decreased, my bad eating habits started to come back and before I knew it, I was disgusted with myself once again.

Fast-forward about a year......8/2008....after returning from a trip to Mexico and viewing our pictures, I just couldn't believe the person I had become in that bikini picture. All those days of running and training and to end up back here again. At that moment, I had decided once and for all this was it...I am done with this toxic lifestyle...and so my Beachbody journey began...my husband had been wanting to try P90X for quite some time but, I was "anti-dvd" or a dvd snob as some people may put it. I just didn't think working out to a dvd would give me any results.....but, I had tried everything else and although I would lose weight, I never drastically changed my body. I just became a smaller version of my old self.

So, I decided to give P90X a try with my husband. I found P90X to be VERY challenging...I mean I could only do about 8-10 pushups on my knees and not one single chin up or pull up. I didn't have the stamina to keep up with Plyometrics or KenpoX but regardless of how challenging it was, I really liked it……I felt there was something to this method of training and I just knew this was going to work. I gave it my all and watched my food intake. By the end of month 2, I had lost about 8 pounds and was feeling stronger. Going into month 3 I felt really good and then the storm hit...Hurricane Ike. Halfway through month 3, this storm came in like a tyrant and we lost power for several days....needless to say (although looking back, even that was not an excuse) I was unable to workout without power...no TV, no DVD player and I was just stressing out over everything else we had to contend with that working out was not my priority. Needless to say, I did not finish the last 2 weeks of P90X and found myself slipping back into my old ways again. Since the holidays were approaching I decided to just get through them the best I could.

In Jan. 2009, my husband and I recommitted to working out. He decided to try P90X again and I decided to give Chalean Extreme a shot thinking that since a female was teaching it that it may be just a little easier for me. WRONG!! Her program was just as hard but I truely enjoyed it and looked forward to working out every day. I followed Chalean to the letter and really tightend up my diet. My progress was really slow at first....at the end of month 1, I had only lost 3 pounds and really did not see any visible results but I was feeling better about myself. I tried not to get frustrated and also realized that in order to see the muscle I was building, I needed to shred the extra layers of fat off my body. So, I decided to add in more cardio by incorporating 3 mile runs on my weight training days. After a couple of weeks of double duty workouts, I finally started to see changes in my body. Going into month 3 of Chalean, I really started noticing some muscle definition and by the end of the program could not believe the transformation my body was undergoing. I have never in my life had definition in my arms and I could finally see my biceps and triceps. At the end of Chalean Extreme, I had lost a total of 15 pounds. I was very happy with my results but was not done transforming my body yet and so I decided to give P90X a try again and my husband did it with me for his 3rd time.

I love P90X and the intensity & variety of the program. I just completed my 2nd round of P90X this July 2009. I have lost an additional 8 pounds for a total of 23 pounds lost in 6 months (143lbs down to 120lbs). My body fat has gone from 30% to 18% and I have lost several inches all over my body. I went from a tight size 6 to a size 0-2. I have completely transformed my body to the point that I can't even believe it's me sometimes. I love my new look and my new lifestyle.

Thanks to Beachbody and its programs I have finally found the key to winning the "transformation" battle. I have found during my journey that it's one thing to lose weight but it's an entirely different level of commitment and intensity to win at transforming my body. I am so excited about the Beachbody products/programs that I am busting at the seams to share the experience and knowledge with all of my friends and family and whomever else wants to hear about it.

My next venture begins Aug. 2009 with Insanity....my husband will be joining me on this insane ride and I cannot wait to see the results in 60 days!!!

UPDATE: As a result of my hard work and effort, I was a $1,000 winner in the October 2009 Million Dollar Body Game!!! Thanks Beachbody!!!
