I'm a 33 year old housewife and student born in Ma but living in Indiana with my darling husband. I was a shy and rather sensitive child and turned to food to comfort my hurts and to deal with stress. A few years ago I managed to shed about 50 pounds. This is when God brought challenge into my life. My husband and I were in a minor car accident that caused herniated disc in my lower back. It took a while for a diagnosis and it was a while before I was able to get a handle on pain management and recovery. During this time I couldn't workout and not only was I in a fog of pain medications but I became depressed and gained most of that weight back. Then my darling MIL became ill and passed away within a 4 month period, then hubby and I had some touch marital times in which we almost didn't make it. It wasn't until I choose not to be bitter from the hurts that had happened but to see these challenges as life lessons. I think sometimes God has to be tough with us for us to truly see the lessons God is wanting us to learn. I can be stubborn and God all but had to clobber me over the head before not only were my eyes open to the blessings of these life lessons but my heart as well. In the past few months I've been working on not only my physical health but my emotional well being as well. I think a light finally went on when everything finally clicked within me and I saw how connected my food and weight issues and my self esteem issues are to each other. For the first time I am fully committed to my health and well being and celebrate each day the progress I am making. I am no longer letting my challenges become road blocks. I still stumble but I pick myself up and continue on. I'm looking forward to this next year of self discovery!
